Old Town Yoga turns 8 years old today! 🎉
Looking back, it’s hard to put into words just how much this journey has meant. From opening our doors in 2016 to teaching thousands of yoga classes, navigating a pandemic, and creating lifelong connections—gratitude has been the thread weaving it all together. 💛
As we prepare to start our ninth year, I’m thrilled to share a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that we’ve purchased our very own building! ✨
This new space, opening in late spring 2025, marks the beginning of a new chapter for Old Town Yoga—one filled with even more opportunities for growth, stability, and community.

Begin the new year with clarity and purpose through the transformative practice of Kriya Yoga, as outlined in Sutra 2.1 in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. This two-hour session will explore the threefold path of tapas (discipline), svadhyaya (self-study), and Ishvarapranidhana (surrender to the divine). Old Town Yoga is proud to present a workshop that you won’t want to miss- Gravity & Grace: The Power of Surrender and Intuitive Response with Peter Sterios. Peter has been part of the global yoga community for over four decades as a teacher, designer, founder, award-winning author, and philanthropist. He founded MANDUKA® and LEVITYoGA™, taught yoga at the Obama White House for 3 years, and in 2018, he spoke as a wellness expert for the US Marine Corps at the Pentagon.
At its heart, this workshop will awaken intuitive ways to find balance and softness in your practice, using the subtle body elements of Gravity & Grace that Peter discovered while healing from a broken back. These simple practices will open you to personal, unexpected discoveries that help create a yoga-inspired guide for living and healing. Working this way has a profound effect on your nervous and immune systems, allowing you the fullest potential of your body’s ability for strength, flexibility and balance naturally.
This workshop will introduce the non-physical elements of Gravity & Grace, gateways into what ancient yogi’s referred to as sukshma sharira (subtle body) – considered the most trustworthy theoretical foundation for safe and well-balanced practice. Movement during this class will include a short Opening Sequence warm-up, followed by a Dynamic (Vinyasa-style) Sequence of poses that build balance, heat, whole body circulation, and mental clarity that ultimately produces lightness (Levity) and joy (Ananda). Instruction is designed for all levels of yoga experience.
Stay after class to get your own copy of Gravity & Grace signed by Peter! Copies available to purchase in the lobby.

If the idea of holding a 2-minute plank makes you shudder, this workshop is for you!
Plank is one of the most frequently practiced Yoga poses, yet obstacles can get in the way of our practice and progress. Do we take it out or do we reframe our approach?
This workshop focuses on healthy mobility, alignment, and strengthening using a wide array of props (including light resistance bands) to develop understanding and proprioception. We will explore deeper concepts, such as tensegrity, and find the perfect plank for our unique needs.
The next time your instructor suggests pausing in plank, you will be ready to savor the moment!

Why We’re Here
Old Town Yoga was born out of a longing to connect more deeply. Desiree, studio founder and instructor, began her yoga practice at home with online classes. As she fell in love with yoga she began to search for a local studio where she could grow her practice and connect with like-minded people. She struggled to find a studio that was friendly, convenient and affordable, so after becoming a yoga instructor she decided to open the studio she always dreamed of being a student at herself. Her vision is to provide the community with a studio that is inclusive and motivating. Old Town Yoga's environment fosters a sense of connection and empowerment, with classes that will challenge, but also encourage students to reach potentials they are not even aware of. All at a price that is not freakin' ridiculous.
