Headed west- See ya soon Phoenix!
I used to fly everywhere. I spent 20 years working in corporate America, flying everywhere, boarding planes on a regular basis, living out of a suitcase in a hotel suite, racking up platinum and chairman level points with the airlines- all on my company’s dime.
Everything and everyone was in such a rush, I was important, and important people were waiting.
I hated driving on long trips. I always thought of it as time wasted spent driving when I could just fly and be there in far less time and start getting things done.
These days I look at it completely differently. I still fly, but I spend a lot of time on the road driving and I look at the trip completely differently.
Now instead of getting on the road and thinking about the destination, I consider the entire drive the destination.
If I have to be somewhere in two days, I’ll usually leave three or four days for travel so I can stop and visit places , meet people, enjoy the scenery or be a tourist along the way.
Changing my perspective significantly on travel shows the shift in my mindset.
Whatever or whoever it is, will be there waiting for you when you finally arrive.
And if it’s not then it wasn’t meant for you. Stop focusing on the destination, the outcome, the end result; instead focus on the moment.
Enjoy what’s around you.
Discover things that you would’ve overlooked along the way.
This is where the best part happens.
