I still remember when Dr Sheena taught us that another word for snigha (oil/oleation) means love.

The entire practice of abhyangha (self applied oil massage) took on a whole different meaning. Oil application became more than just a practice or something cosmetic.

It became nourishment, warmth, softness, care… an applied loving kindness ritual I do daily.

And in a world that is bombarding us with messages to critique, fix, tighten, reverse or fight with our skin… there is something really healing and radical about approaching our skin and bodies with gentleness.

PS this phot was taken immediately after mukha abyangha (facial oil massage). No makeup, no fancy lighting (unless the sometimes harsh bathroom lights count 🤔), no AI and no shower. Literally just the face massage with oil.

And I do this twice a day with different oils. It is one of my favorite parts of my sadhana.

Applying oil to the skin can be an act of love. And if that isn’t beauty, I’m not sure what is.

More to explore with this topic in the next Embodying Ayurveda workshop.

Ayurveda understands that different constitutions express differently in our skin. And that environment, stress levels, digestion, hydration, sleep, climate, age and lifestyle all play a role.

Living in Colorado has taught me this first hand!

The dryness, the elevation, the intense sun and constant weather shifts do impact our body, mind and skin!

One thing I appreciate about Ayurveda is that it invites us to move away from fixing the skin and more to understanding it more.

Not all skin needs the same care.
Not all breakouts knew the same thing.
Not all dryness stems from the same root.

Over the next few weeks I’ll share more about skin and beauty from an Ayurvedic perspective. And I can’t wait to share more!

One of my favorite Ayurvedic rituals is also one of the simplest! Licorice powder + honey + water. Mix, apply and rinse! My skin is softer and cooler, especially on days when I’ve been hiking, on the courts or just out and about more!

Ayurveda understands beauty as something more than just appearances. Our skin is an outer reflection of our digestion, hydration, stress, nervous system, environment and lifestyle.

When I moved back to CO from WA…. I could really tell a difference in my skin/ the high and dry climate mixed with my dry and hot nature (hello vata pitta!) can really show on my skin!

And simple rituals, with known ingredients and likely things you have in your kitchen are all you need to start nourishing now!

Want to learn more?! This month in Embodying Ayurveda we’ll explore Ayurvedic skin care, facial oils and you’ll leave with your own customized face pack! More to share soon!

Opening my office space has given me the opportunity to reflect on the many different experiences, trainings and versions of myself that shape how I work with people now.

Corrections. Organizational training. Coaching. Yoga. Ayurveda. Leadership development. Communication. Behavioral change. Healing.

No matter the setting, I’ve always been interested in:

What helps people feel more supported?
What helps people create and sustain meaningful change?
What are the barriers of making changes?
What helps people reconnect with themselves, their values, their bodies and their lives?

My work today really reflects all of this and i gotta give a shout out to 18 yo me who knew to study social work for an undergrad- that this would somehow be the foundation of all my work!

Some sessions with me are rooted in Ayurveda and reccomendations with food, herbs, rituals and more.

Others are more focused on coaching: reflections, accountability, burnout, leadership and/or life transitions.

Some come for yoga, movement, breathwork or reiki.

Often there is a natural overlap of all depending on who I’m working with and what will be most supportive in the moment.

More than anything, I try to approach my work with intentionality, collaboration, care and curiosity.

If you’re interested in working with me, I’d love to connect! Welcome in rates are available through 5/20!

In gratitude,

Katie

Looking back, the transition from parole officer to Ayurvedic practitioner does seem slightly unhinged….

And honestly, most of my path has been similar… following curiosity, purpose and the feeling that something mattered enough to keep learning more, trying different things and trusting myself.

I’m not sure I was ever really worried about whether my path looked conventional. Rather I tapped more deeply into whether things felt aligned internally.

Truthfully, this is part of what I hope to offer through my work now. Now a whole huge overhaul (though I do support that, if that’s what’s needed, lol) but to help others have permission to make an unhinged decision especially if it leads to more balance, meaning, healing, connection or authenticity.

Maybe the path of corrections, training, teaching at the college, yoga, Ayurveda and now high school tennis is less about the places I’ve touched and more about the common thread… supporting others to connect deeper with themselves and others.

This month, I’m opening up a new space at Yoga Studio Satya , a place where all the versions of me AND all the versions of you are welcome!

If anything here resonates, I’d love to connect.

Thank you for accepting all of me. And thanks to Caitlyn Noelle for the idea of looking into the unhinged aspect of myself! ❤️❤️

I’ve been sharing more about the energetic principles (or doshas) in Ayurveda. And I want to share why…. For a long time I was seemingly doing all the right things…. I was studying and practicing yoga, I developed routines.

And yet, I still didn’t fully understand my body. When I started to dive more into the doshas from Ayurveda, things started to click.

I started to see patterns. I wasn’t fixed or in a permanent state with these patterns either- the anxiousness, the pushing, the heaviness…. I started to understand how to work with myself in those imbalances.

Once you start to recognize your own patterns, you stop trying to force yourself into one way of being… and you become more responsive to what you actually need.

This is exactly what we’re explore more in my next Embodying Ayurvedic workshop at Yoga Studio Satya on May 10th from 3:30-5p.

If you’re doing the things and still feeling off, this may offer a different way of understanding yourself (and others).

Everything about vata is fast, it’s moving and it’s novel. They’re the people who are speed walking (👋) and they also use their hands a lot when they’re talking.

They have ideas, visions and are very creative! They may also be more prone to overwhelm, anxiousness, worry and exhaustion (also 👋).

In Ayurveda, we can understand this energy and these traits as the vata dosha. In agencies, they’re the ones who you want to be involved to dreaming up in initiatives or writing vision statements. Or if you have a problem and need a new solution too… these are not the people to be doing repetitive admin tasks!

So the goal is not to suppress the creativity but rather to help steady it. This happens though consistency, warmth and grounding practices. And as a personal share, an absolute game changer for me has abyangha (oil massage)- my sleep is better, my skin isn’t as dry and my mind in general is calmer! It’s one of the best practices for vata folks!

📸 is from the cutest little double wide ever in Page AZ and also captured is one of my fav absolute vata dresses!

Do you have any of these vata tendencies?

Photos from Katie Weber Holistics's post 04/28/2026

Do you have this tendency or know others who do? Very driven, love lists and spreadsheets are their love language?

Pitta dominant folks know what they want, move towards what they want and they get things done. In agencies, they’re often in director or manager positions.

Sometimes though, when things don’t go as planned or maybe they don’t have enough to eat at lunch (👋) they may tend to be a little fiery or hangry.

This is all connected to the pitta dosha. The energy of transformation!

Ya girl here has a decent amount of pitta and let’s be honest, I tried to my a solid pitta picture… this is what I got….

In Ayurveda, it’s not about stopping the drive or attempting to lessen the transformation, rather it’s about creating more balance and often for pitta people, this means cooling down, softening and having more space.

Do you see yourself in these?
