Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!
Guess who is now official!
Meet Master Bike Fitter, Mike Stone. We’re super excited to welcome him to Race Pace Bicycles in Ellicott City! Mike’s list of accolades reads as long as a NASA prelaunch checklist! Here are some highlights and his philosophy on how you can be happily comfortable and powerful every time you ride your bike!
Mike is fully trained and certified in the RETÜL Bike Fit System, successfully completing their comprehensive Master Bike Fit Certification Test (a program so difficult that fewer than 50% of students pass, and less than 100 fitters world-wide are certified). Mike has also taught the advanced bike fit class at RETÜL's training center. He has worked with more than 2,000 athletes, including high school & college athletes, professional Iron Man triathletes, cyclists, Race Across America winners, Master Level Time Trial, and Road Racers.
Mike has helped adults re-entering athletics after raising a family, and baby-boomers focused on enjoying riding as competitors, or rehabilitating their bodies after hip, knee injuries, replacements or other injuries. Mike volunteers to support the We Are Project H.E.R.O. at the new Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, fitting and instructing injured service men and women to ride hand-cycles, recumbent cycles, and standard bikes as part of their therapy and post injury lifestyle.
Mike’s Bike Fit Philosophy is: What do you want from your riding experience? As a bike fitter, Mike will perform a comprehensive cycling evaluation to hone in on what you are looking for while cycling, and how to comfortably connect you to your bike. Mike will perform a body structure assessment from the bottom of your feet up to your neck to check range of motion. Once he understands and documents your body’s structure, he can adjust your rider position on your bicycle to maximize and utilize your body’s strengths and limits for power and comfort, while reducing your risk of injury.
Every rider can expect 3 primary benefits from a bike fit with Mike:
· More Power: ride more efficiently, faster, longer.
· More Comfort: a rider position that is more comfortable/more aero/more aggressive appropriate to their body’s structure for the entire ride.
· Reduced Risk of Injury

So glad to see Carlton walk into the store --- a shorter crank arm plus a new athletic foot allows a comfortable pedaling range of motion. Check back for updates as we see how Carlton progresses!

Mike Stone worked with blogger Emily Lobaugh (emilythehealthynut.wordpress.com) to obtain the perfect bike fit prior to her first Olympic at Columbia Triathlon
emilythehealthynut.wordpress.com CONFESSION: I’m starting to get the hang of this bike thing (well…at least I’d like to think so). The bike (and triathlons in general) are all new to me and it’s taking some…
