As we wrap up the month of May, let’s take a collective deep breath. While Mental Health Awareness Month is coming to a close, our commitment to nurturing our minds, bodies, and spirits never ends.
Where It Began
Mental Health Awareness Month isn’t a new trend it was actually launched back in 1949 by the organization Mental Health America (then known as the National Association for Mental Health). For over 75 years, May has been a dedicated time to fight stigma, educate the public, and advocate for policies that support well-being.
The Power of Reiki & Self-Care
When life gets overwhelming, our bodies tend to store that stress, anxiety, and trauma physically. This is where holistic self-care and energy healing play such a vital role. Reiki and intentional self-care practices help support mental health by:
Calming the Nervous System: Reiki helps shift the body out of "fight or flight" mode and into a state of deep rest and recovery (parasympathetic nervous system activation).
Clearing Emotional Stagnation: Energetic blocks often manifest as anxiety or mental fatigue. Gentle energy work helps release stored stress and restores a natural, peaceful flow.
Building a Sanctuary Within: Simple daily self-care practices whether it's breathwork, spending time in nature, or setting firm boundaries remind us that we are worthy of our own time and tenderness.

Today we pause to honor and remember the brave souls who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
From all of us at Little Lotus, we hold deep gratitude for our veterans, active service members and the families who carry both pride and loss in ways words could never fully express.
May we also use this day as a reminder that compassion, unity, and understanding are what truly move humanity forward. In a world that often feels divided, may we choose kindness over hatred, connection over conflict, and love over fear.
To those who served, to those we have lost, and to those still carrying the weight of sacrifice we remember you today and always.

A Reminder for Your Sunday
You are allowed to rest without earning it.
READ THAT AGAIN. Somewhere along the way, we were taught that rest is a reward we only deserve after hitting a point of absolute exhaustion. But rest isn't a transaction. It’s a requirement. Today, let go of the urge to be productive. Release the guilt of doing "nothing."
Today’s Release Practice:

🤍Unclench your jaw and take a deep, slow breath.
🤍Step away from the noise even if it's just for five minutes.
