THE ELKS CELEBRATES LOCAL VETERANS
It was a packed house at last night’s Elks Veteran Outing banquet, even though the weather cancelled the golf portion of the day.

Veterans and their spouses were greeted near the club entrance with flying flags from each of the military branches. (Provided by Allan and Kim Grossnicklaus)

They enjoyed a hearty banquet with Cargill steaks grilled by Jim Morris and company; a delicious assortment of sides and homemade apple pie made by Elk’s Chef Karen Jones and served. Y our friendly staff; and they were treated to a large assortment of raffle prizes.

THE ELKS PAYS TRIBUTE
We live in the greatest country in the world because others fought - and fight - for our freedoms. Last night at the Elks Veterans Outing banquet, we honored several individuals: Dennis Vesely, who began serving in the U.S. Army in 1957 and reached the rank of Specialist E-4; one Korean War veteran, and two pilots who provide special flyovers for communities and veterans.

THE ELKS HONORS VETERANS
Even though rain cancelled the golf portion of Elks Lodge #1195’s Veterans Outing yesterday, we still honored our veterans with a special welcome from Gov. Jim Pillen, a moving flyover by pilots Kurt Muhle and Keith Harbor, and a $1,000 Freedom Grant presentation to the Norfolk Veterans Home.
