Your equestrian adventure awaits! My goal is to create well rounded, compassionate equestrians who put the horses first.

I believe in the animals, the life lessons they can teach us, and want to help anyone who wants any type of relationship with a horse whether it be to build a solid foundation in the basics at the start of their journey towards a successful showing career, or simply to learn to be around them and enjoy their company.

I’m excited to announce that I have been touring for boarding and am officially ready to welcome new horses (and their people) to the barn! Two partial care spots are already spoken for, which brings the current available stalls count to 11 total;
-8 of those can be self care, partial care, or co-op care
-3 can be full board, partial or co-op, but not self care since they are located in my training end of the aisle.

I do not currently have any full training spots available, but I should by this fall!

Hello followers and new visitors! I have been interacting with tons of ISO boarding posts the last few days, so I figured I should make a post about the new service I’m offering! I will not officially be ready to accept new boarding clients until May 15th, I am open for scheduled tours now!

The location where I am now offering boarding is what I call “MV Barn”; 15015 Sycamore Rd, Mount Vernon, OH, 43050

I have up to 13 stalls available. All spots are available for partial care, 10 of those can be self care, the last 3 can be full care but I would honestly still prefer partial or even co-op care for all.

Self care will be $150/stall, includes shared turnout space and shared storage space. I live onsite so I am happy to help with feedings during emergencies!

Partial care will be $250/stall, including everything in self care + me doing your daily turnout and feeding (up to 2x a day.) I am happy to do blanket changes/fly gear/spray at feeding times. Horses are checked on several times a day and hay stations/water refilled as needed.
Hay can be provided as well based on what your horse needs. With current hay prices, and averaging 1 square bale of mixed grass hay per horse per day, the cost of partial board + hay would be $520/month. If your horse is an easier or harder keeper, this will reflect in the hay budget, as well as current market pricing.

I am huge on free choice forage and turnout, and have been careful not to over-horse my fields in addition to providing hay stations year round, so I do typically have at least some grass majority of the year. The sections of the barn I haven’t been renting for the past 3 years have not been treated so nicely, but they have been resting for almost a month now so they do have some grass coming in. If we are careful about rotating fields, and still providing hay, I think we can turn the fields around to all have grass! I do also have ability to dry lot metabolic horses, as I have one who needs to be in a grazing muzzle or dry lot and would love a buddy to suffer grass jail with.

Being that I am more of a private/boutique style barn, though not fancy, partial board with me is very similar to full board but you provide your own grain and clean your stall based on how much you want your horse in. I have had partial boarders over the last couple winters, who typically keep their horses at home but come in for winter so they can use the arena 3-4x a week, who would clean when they came which worked out perfectly well because of how much I turn out. They always had the option to have me clean on days they couldn’t make it or were on vacation.

I have, so far, only offered “full” board to lesson and training clients who’s horse is part of the program, so offering complete full board where you don’t have to come out ever is a new offering and one I’d like to keep on the smaller side, in order to keep costs low for everyone. I am a one woman show, but horses are my life and I want this place to grow and succeed!

A retirement or layup horse would be perfect for this option, but I do recognize that the facility is a far drive from most major cities, so I am open to full boarders willing to make the trek for the sake of their horse’s happiness while they aren’t at the barn with them. It is hard to find this level of turnout closer to the city, especially with the following amenities;

80x120 indoor with lots of arena toys, jumps, poles, barrels, & trail obstacles

Outdoor/xc jump field May-Oct/November

Smaller outdoor arena/obstacle course coming soon

Trailer parking included in board

Within 10-45 minutes drive of many amazing trail heads!

I also provide several free choice “salt buffet stations” which include loose salt, loose minerals, and Himalayan rope blocks for whatever their salt intake preferences may be! I dump stall water buckets daily if horses are in long enough to need them filled, troughs get dumped & cleaned at least once a week.

Full board ranges from $750-$850 depending on what grain your horse needs, I have 3 diet options available; Purina Enrich +, Purina Smart Edge Senior, and Purina Ultium Senior. Most of my horses are on the ration balancer diet, they all get 1lb a day plus the free choice forage. A few of my harder keepers are on 5-6lbs a day of the other two grain options

Full board includes up to 2x daily feeding (depending on diet), free choice hay, turnout/in in am/pm or owner preference, stall cleaning and bedding (for horses kept in up to 12 hours a day.)

All horses must be current on vaccines and coggins before they can move in. Please be honest if they are coming from a barn with a health issue, I *might* be able to help set up a quarantine spot for you but I am just clearing this place of Strangles and really don’t want it to come back in.

Please feel free to reach out with further questions &/or to set up a tour! I will get new photos and an ad made to post by the time the facility is officially ready to accept new horses!

Congratulations to our riders who went to Happily Ever After Horse Show Series today! Melissa and her brand new horse Faith survived and thrived at their first show together, and Faith’s first show in general!
Ruby and Sherman are becoming such a fabulous pair after a lot of hard work getting to know each other over the winter, it was so much fun to watch them build their partnership even further by trying a new height division! They improved something each time in and were positively glowing by the end of the day. We can’t wait for HEA 2 at the end of the month with even more horses & riders!

I didn’t intend to have Hanna jump anything during our ground work session today, but I was a little too lazy to move everything out of the way and she aimed herself for one of the new things we just made Sunday, so I rearranged some stuff to allow her to play! Someday I’ll remember to take out the Pivo and get some action shots!

This isn’t something I have ever felt the need to post before, but something recently happened and I need to address it!

I am not a public riding stable, meaning all of my lessons and barn tours are by appointment only. The Mount Vernon location, specifically, is still under Strangles quarantine. I do not have any symptomatic horses on site now, but the last one who was sick is still in veterinary ordered isolation until he gets one more negative test, which is scheduled to be taken May 1st. I hope to be completely cleared of all quarantined areas by the middle or end of May, but timelines are timelines and if the vet says don’t go in an area for 4-6 weeks after last known exposure, that’s how long we have to wait to safely use them again.

I have, with permission from my vet, recently started allowing some lesson and lease clients to return to MV barn under my direct supervision. I have also been spreading the word that I’ll be offering boarding soon, once the whole barn is deemed safe for equines. Right now the only the areas considered clear are the areas my mares are using.

If you would like to schedule a boarding tour, I am open to it, but do not stop by unannounced and walk yourself through the barn without my presence. This is for liability reasons as well as to ensure you stay safe and clean, especially if you are going to be going to another barn after you visit mine. This is also my home, so if someone shows up unexpectedly, it puts my family and pets on high alert. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, I’ll be happy to schedule a time to meet with you!

Equine Affaire has come and gone for another year, and as usual it provided many wonderful learning opportunities for everyone who attended! My recap is a few days late, as I’ve been busy recovering and settling in my new pony! More info to come about her in a later post!

We went into this event with certain expectations, but sometimes the horse’s needs change our plans and that’s OK. Thanks to an amazing team of horses, riders, parents and friends, we all made it through the weekend with new additions to our knowledge toolkits and a whole lot of tack & other random fun horsey items!

Congratulations are in order to Ruby and Sherman, who placed 8th in the 2nd ever Ohio Breed Bonanza youth class! They are the first few photos in all of their fanciest show attire, but the rest I tried to keep in mostly chronological order as we all went through our clinics. Sneak peak of the new girl at the end 😉
