Happy 10th birthday to my Carly Grace, who completes our crazy little family with her witty, mischievous, and genuinely sweet soul. I’m so proud of the incredible person she has become!

And just like that, Camille is a teenager (not when this was posted, the 13th!) 😝🎉
This is a long post, so prepare….

I often discuss how unprepared one feels for every stage of motherhood, each with its challenges and unexpected events. But for me, this stage is the hardest. Not because I must be present physically, constantly in a state of exhaustion like when she was young, but because my role has become one that is more in the shadows. 😭
This new role initially had me trying to keep her closer, “under my wing for as long as I can”! I am sure you can guess how well that works with a teenager! 😝

Now I realize that instead of trying to “keep her tight under my wing,” it is time to allow her more freedom to demonstrate who she is and all we have taught her.

Sometimes, stepping back is more powerful than trying to be in control. Most of us work hard from the moment our children are born to ensure they understand the depth of our love for them, an endeavor we know they will never fully understand until they become parents.
So NOW I realize that validation only exists through who she is right before me.👏🏻

So, today, I am celebrating who Camille has become: a loving, intelligent, and caring human who sees the good in everyone and takes life at face value. At 13 years old, I couldn’t be prouder, and I can’t wait to see who you are yet to become. Happy 13th birthday, Camille. You are one of my proudest accomplishments in life!

Where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday we were enrolling them in kindergarten. Time, please slow down!

Happy 9th Birthday to the incredible Carly Grace! Can't believe it’s already been 9 years! Your fun-loving, mischievous, and kind-hearted personality brings so much joy and laughter to my life! Today and every day, I wish you all the excitement and adventure that life has to offer! Love you to the moon and back!

✨Child drama can definitely drive you MAD! 🙋🏼‍♀️✨

➡️ Most times, my patience could improve when this happens with my kiddos.

⏩However, during moments of clarity, I DO TRY HARD to remember how I felt at that age and how most of my tattling drama meant something much more profound than what it appeared.

✨For example:

➡️Some children see and feel the world in an emotionally forward way, so they squeal due to perceived injustices or wrongdoings because it drives them insane.
✨They literally can’t think of any other choice with the current life-altering situation that has been presented to them (this was me as a kid 🤦‍♀️🤣)

➡️While other children may view the world in a more playful, lighthearted way and don’t understand why “a practical joke”, is now getting them in trouble.

✨of course, it could also be for several other reasons, like seeking attention, control, jealousy, or pure sibling orneriness! 😝

⏩ BUT, if you find it happening more often, or one child acting like they would go to war to fight for their truth 🤣 then maybe try my method of getting to the bottom of the madness and asking them more questions about what they feel beyond the current situation.

✨I know, I know. At the moment, you want to lose it, me too!

➡️It is SO HARD to have patience after they have been tattling on each other for the 100th time, but try to reflect on what’s motivating their rants and see if, by addressing those issues, the tattling will lessen!
