Next week I will speak at my first conference⦠about a topic that has changed my life in so many ways.
Nervous system fluency has given me the gift of felt safety in my body- AKA the capacity to take risks in life and business.
Itās given me more compassion for myself and others.
It allows me to better care for myself and accommodate people in my life with intention.
Without this foundational skill I would simply be a coach suggesting fitness plans and mindset shiftsā¦
Nervous system fluency is the magic ingredient that returns agency to the user.
No more blindly following advice with your fingers crossed- because when you learn this skill you reclaim your sovereignty.
Your lived experience will tell you more than any handbook or framework ever can.

Healing is not a line graph that goes up and to the right š
It more closely resembles a rollercoaster š¢ with ups and downs and twists and curves š«
And everyone gets their own unique ride.
We tend to get caught up in the comparison game- where we check with the people around us to see if weāre āhealing correctlyā or fitting inā¦
The thing is, the answers we seek are already within us and when we try to seek them externally we will never be satisfied.
Our emotions are intelligent signals from our wise bodies- and we would do well to LISTEN to them and TRUST their wisdom.
Your body isnāt betraying you babe, itās trying to tell you something though.

So much of what we call āwillpowerā when talking about workouts is really our ability to stay grounded and regulated in our nervous systems.
We store trauma and unprocessed emotions in the body and when we start moving into those spots⦠itās HARD!
This isnāt the case for everyone of course, but for many of my clients.
I love to share with people that their ability to stay consistent is *very* related to their subconscious nervous system activity and not simply due to ālazinessā or āboredomā
Thereās a beautiful moment when a person realizes their struggle was never personal and they get to break through the barriers holding them back
Their shoulders relax and they make decisions differently
Their internal dialogue becomes softer and kinder
Their relationship to their body and to exercise improves
And their relationships with others improve too
I help people go from self critical and inconsistent to using their movement as a refuge.

Vulnerability Incoming:
Growing up, as an undiagnosed ADHDer (and likely Autistic) I used to make decisions based on how things looked- and not how they felt.
It kept me safe in social settings so I got REALLY good at it.
My soul starved and my body cried out for attunement. Then (yearssss later) I decided to lean into being myself even if it made me the āweirdā one.
Being myself allowed me to be honest about what my needs were, instead of dismissing them because they were āinconvenientā or different from the ānormā
I learned last year that masking is one of the top contributors of Suic*dal Ideation in neurodivergent folks. ESPECIALLY people who identify as a woman.
Thatās why itās SO important to me that I create a safe space for ND folks to be open and comfortable in their emotions, bodies, and self expression.
Even if I can support just one person in opening up, feeling safe in their bodies, and creating a space where they can be genuinely themselves? Thatās absolutely a win to me.
This work is suic*de prevention.
This is vulnerable to share, and thatās okay because I know Iām not the only one who feels this way.
Yes I am a fitness coach, but it goes a lot deeper than that.
I use fitness and physical movement to help people with trauma to come back into their bodies and release their stored feelings.
I help people live beautiful vibrant lives and I do it in a trauma sensitive space where they can drop the mask, drop the pretenses, and ask for what they want and need.
This is my gift. This is my mission.
I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be here, and to meet the people I have.

Working together is going to look different for everyone.
A lot of people come to me to learn how to exercise for strength, joint stability and the mental health benefits.
Most of these folks stay for the personal development and spiritual evolution that happens when youāre held in a trauma sensitive safe(r) container
When you have the support and resources you need to blossom- really beautiful things can happen.
