Shoutout to the MP40 card behind us at Ledgestone — especially Big Jerm!
I had the privilege of playing in front of one of the most respectful groups I’ve ever encountered on the course. The layout was challenging, and our card took more strokes than the cards behind us — our group was +68 over par, and the MP40s caught up with us as early as hole 4. Despite that, they were nothing but patient and courteous toward our tree-loving discs and newer-player card member (the MP40 division as a whole finished -193 under par combined).
After the round, I made a point to approach them (once scores were finalized) to express my appreciation. I apologized for the backups and shared that I know it can be rough — I’ve been on both sides of that situation. Big Jerm’s response was unforgettable:
“Did you have fun?”
“Did the ladies on your card have a good time? Because that’s what matters!”
I have never experienced such genuine respect and care for our experience. Big Jerm, you exemplified what it means to be a true professional and role model — showing that the love of the game and the growth of the sport come first. I wish I had the names of the rest of your card to give them the recognition they deserve, because they were just as stand-up.
Thank you for reminding me that disc golf is for everyone, and that kindness and professionalism can truly go hand in hand with competition. Too often, women’s cards don’t receive that same level of patience or respect on the course, so your actions meant even more. You’ve always been a favorite player of mine, but now I can personally vouch for your sportsmanship and character — and I hope more players follow your example.
This is My Disc Golf Journey — and this chapter is one I’ll never forget. 💫
