Head Coach Jamie Puryear

Coach P started his High School coaching career as the varsity assistant at Lakewood HS, filled with coaching stints at Gahanna Lincoln, Head coach at New Albany HS, and Head Coach at Fairfield Union HS. Coach P was the varsity assistant at Bishop Hartley, and Zanesville HS. We are happy to have him in our

Head Coach Kayla Montanaro

Kayla joins us with 4 years of previous coaching experience. Most recently, Kayla served as an assistant coach at Goucher College for two seasons in addition to coaching 6th grade girls for SMAC and 7th and 8th grade boys for Hoops Guru. She spent her collegiate career playing for Hiram College.

Head Coach Sydney “Syd” Shanaberger comes to us for her 4th year in our organization. Coach Syd is currently the Head JV Coach at New Albany High School. Prior to her current position, she served as a 7th grade head coach at New Albany Middle School & and a varsity assistant at Horizon Science Academy. Coach Syd also played at Muskingum University prior to joining the USAF. Coach Syd is looking to carry out the SMAC standard that she learned as a player for SMAC Cleveland during her playing career. Coach Syd is also excited to bring on board her assistant McKenna Stultz

Assistant Coach McKenna Stultz comes to us from the class of 2024 at New Albany High School. McKenna was a 3-year varsity letter winner & was named 2nd Team All OCC this past season for her time with the Eagles. We are excited to have a talented player come in ready to learn the ropes of coaching.

Head Coach & Director of SMAC Columbus, Jackie Russell

Jackie has been affiliated with SMAC Columbus for 12 years & has served in a director position for 3 years. Jackie is heading into her second year as the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at New Albany High School. She joined the Eagles in 2021 and spent two seasons as the JV Head Coach. Jackie is in her 11th year of coaching including time as a part of Newark City Schools. Jackie serves as an area director for Ohio Basketball. Before coaching, Jackie played two seasons of college basketball at Miami University Hamilton and Ohio State University Newark, where she served as captain on both teams. During her time at Miami Hamilton, the Harriers were ORCC league and tournament champions for the first time in program history. Jackie has a Bachelor’s in Public Affairs from The Ohio State University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University. Jackie works for the City of New Albany in the Community Development Department as an Economic Development Specialist.

Coach Sydney "Syd" Shanaberger, a dedicated OCC level JV Coach, SMAC Cleveland Alumni and USAF Veteran, brings a wealth of experience to the court. As the Director of Recruitment for SMAC Central Ohio and Central Ohio Showtime, she combines her passion for basketball with a commitment to developing young talent.
Currently, Coach Syd is on the lookout for three promising players to complete her elite 7th-grade team, offering a unique opportunity for young athletes to thrive under her expert guidance.

SMAC 2027-E40 & SMAC 2027-NE2K

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded a spot on ‘s ✨and✨ circuits.

The E40 circuit is the TOP level independent circuit in the Nation.
The NE2K circuit is an undisputed leader in girl’s exposure events around the nation.

By joining these leagues, our 2027 teams will play in three premier exposure tournaments as league stops! These league stops will allow our players to play against top competition in front of a wide variety of college coaches.
