Cleveland born, basketball bred, and completely unstoppable. πŸ’ͺ

Today, we proudly feature the ultimate competitor, Charles Oakley, as we continue our countdown of the Class of 2026! Before he became a household name and the backbone of the gritty 1990s New York Knicks, "Oak" was making waves right here in Northeast Ohio at John Hay High School.

He took his relentless work ethic to Virginia Union, where he dominated the boards, before embarking on a legendary 19-year NBA career. An NBA All-Star, two-time All-Defensive Team selection, and one of the most respected enforcers to ever play the game, Charles Oakley epitomizes Ohio toughness.

Welcome to the Hall of Fame, Oak! πŸ†βœ¨

A legendary career spent calling the game at the highest levels. 🏁

Today, we proudly shine the Class of 2026 spotlight on Bill Ek! Over a stellar four-decade officiating career, Bill has been a trusted presence on the hardwood from local Ohio high school gyms to the biggest stages in college basketball.

A Kent State graduate, Bill spent over 30 years as a Division I official, earning 13 NCAA Tournament selections, calling Big Ten and MAC tournament showdowns, and even refereeing the famous 2003 McDonald's All-American game in Cleveland featuring LeBron James. 🌟

Beyond blowing the whistle, Bill has spent decades as a leader, managing and mentoring over 400 officials across the country through Elite Officiating.

Three state titles. One legendary coaching career. πŸ€πŸ“‹

Today we shine the Class of 2026 spotlight on Dan Hegemier! A mastermind of the sidelines, Coach Hegemier is one of the elite few who didn't just build a championship teamβ€”he built multiple championship programs.

He first reached the mountaintop with Fort Loramie, capturing Division IV State Championships in 1987 and 1993. Years later, he brought that same winning culture to New Knoxville, guiding the Rangers to a perfect 27-0 season and the 2008 Division IV State Title.

A master tactician and a pillar of the West Central Ohio basketball community, Coach Hegemier has permanently earned his seat among the greatest to ever do it. Welcome to the Hall of Fame! πŸ†

From a star in Dayton to a legendary leader in Cleveland. πŸ€πŸ“‹

Today, we honor Ray Dieringer as we continue our countdown of the Class of 2026! Ray's basketball journey connected two cornerstones of Ohio hoops history.

After an incredible playing career as a standout guard for the University of Dayton Flyers in the 1950sβ€”where he helped put UD on the national mapβ€”Ray brought his elite basketball IQ to Northeast Ohio. As the head coach at Cleveland State University from 1966 to 1969, he guided the program through its crucial early years in transition to the modern era.

We are proud to permanently cement his dual legacy as an elite player and builder of programs in the Hall of Fame! πŸ†βœ¨

Elite scorer. Six-time State Champion coach. Hall of Famer. πŸ€πŸ†

Today we highlight Scott Rogers as he joins the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2026! Few individuals have dominated the game from both sides of the whistle like Coach Rogers.

Before he became a legendary coach, he was a flat-out scoring machine at Kenyon College, amassing 2,149 career points, earning two-time First Team All-American honors, and even getting drafted into the NBA by the Indiana Pacers.

Since transitioning to the sidelines in 2001, he has built a coaching dynasty at Mount Notre Dame and Indian Hillβ€”capturing six Division I State Championships and orchestrating a historic 98-game winning streak!

Welcome to the Hall of Fame, Coach Rogers! ✨🐾

Today we shine the spotlight on 2026 Inductee Mike Stumpf! A Columbus West High School standout, Mike took his talents to Capital University, where he became one of the most dominant players in school history.

Decades later, his name still sits at the very top of the Crusaders' program as the all-time leading scorer (1,777 points) and all-time leading rebounder (1,175 rebounds). An All-American on the court and an Academic All-American in the classroom, Mike proved what it means to be a true student-athlete.

Today we are proud to honor Donald Smith as we continue our countdown of the Class of 2026! A standout for the University of Dayton from 1971-1974, Donald wasn't just a scorerβ€”he was an artist on the court.

Despite playing before the era of the three-point line, Donald racked up 1,655 career points, ranking him among the elite in UD history. His "silky smooth" jumper helped lead the Flyers to the NCAA Tournament and earned him a spot in the hearts of the Red & Blue faithful forever.

A true pioneer of the "Above the Rim" game. πŸ€πŸš€

Today we celebrate 2026 Inductee Dick Walls! A standout at Miami University in the early 50s, Dick was a rebounding machine and a scoring threat that Mid-American Conference opponents simply couldn't contain.

He held the Miami single-game rebounding record (28!) for decades and was a key piece of the 1952-53 MAC Championship team. His talent took him all the way to the NBA draft and later to the legendary Akron Goodyear Wingfoots, where he continued to dominate the industrial leagues.
