Your breath is the remote control for your nervous system.
Shallow. Fast. Anxious.
Or slow. Deep. Present.
That shift takes less than 60 seconds — and it changes everything that comes after it.
This is box breathing. Try it before your next meeting. Or after one. So you don't drag that energy into the next room.
Calm isn't a personality trait. It's a choice.
Shawn Ellis
Keynote speaker. Endings Expert. I teach the 5 Choices Masters of Radical Adaptability make—so you can let go of what's holding you back and lead what's next.
This Moment Matters was created by Shawn Ellis – a father, friend, entrepreneur, and small business owner seeking to create a better life, better work and better business… one moment at a time. Stay tuned for anecdotes about living in the moment, advice to help you be “in the moment” more often, and interviews with gurus and thought leaders for further insight into how to leverage this moment to improve relationships, find fulfillment at work, improve your health, and much more.
Your next breakthrough isn't about what you start.
It's about what you're willing to end.
Most of us are in survival mode — reacting, fixing, getting through. That's adaptability.
Radical Adaptability asks a different question: How do we become our best in this moment?
You can't survive your way to number one. But you can choose something better.

Down 14. Down 12.
But they didn’t quit.
This week, we saw two of the most inspiring comebacks in NCAA history.
Houston stunned Duke. After missing 14 of the first 17 shots.
Then Florida stunned Houston. Even though one of the “heroes” was scoreless in the first half.
And you? You’re still in the game too. No matter what the scoreboard shows right now.
The numbers might be black-and-white.
But your future? That’s full color. And it’s still being painted.
Tag someone who needs this reminder today: Comebacks are real.

Reflections from Chicago.
Yesterday I spoke to 800+ managers from a leading healthcare company—right in the middle of one of the biggest transitions in their history.
6000 new employees. A brand-new future to step into.
But stepping into the new always begins with one thing:
✨ Letting go of the old.
Old habits. Old stories. Old fears.
That’s what we did yesterday.
In the Adapt & Thrive keynote.
In the Choose Your Ending workshop.
And what a moment it was.
Because Radical Adaptability isn’t just about learning something new—it’s about ending what’s no longer working.
💥 The future belongs to the leaders who stop waiting for change—and choose their ending before the crisis chooses for them.
To everyone who showed up and played full out—you inspired me. 🙏

📢 You can’t control the chaos—but you can do this.
Right now, it feels like the world is spinning faster than ever.
Uncertainty. Overwhelm. Noise.
It’s easy to feel powerless when so much is outside our control.
But here’s what I remind myself and audiences I speak to:
✅ Feel it. Name the stress. Let it be real.
✅ Reframe it. Shift focus from what’s out of your hands to what’s in your power.
✅ Rise. One small action = momentum.
You don’t have to fix everything today. You just have to take the next step.
💡 What’s one thing you’re choosing to focus on today? Drop it in the comments. Let’s encourage each other. 👇

Midweek blues? Let’s talk.
You know that feeling when it’s only Wednesday but you already feel exhausted? Like no matter what you do, there’s more to do? Or maybe life is just hitting hard right now?
I get it.
This week, I had to remind myself:
👉 Circumstances don’t get to decide how I show up.
👉 Resilience isn’t pushing harder—it’s shifting how I see the challenge.
👉 Momentum is built in moments.
So if you’re feeling stuck today, do one thing to shift your energy:
🔹 Take a breath.
🔹 Find one small win to focus on.
🔹 Do one thing—anything—to move forward.
You don’t have to fix everything today. You just have to keep going.

Ever feel like your schedule is running you instead of the other way around? 😵💫
Saying yes to everything isn’t the flex we think it is. It’s how we end up burnt out, stretched thin, and wondering why we have no time left for what truly matters.
So here’s your challenge for the week:
✅ Say no to one thing that drains you.
✅ Say yes to something that fuels you.
Drop a 🙌 in the comments if you’re ready to reclaim your energy!

We often think of success as starting something new. But what if the real key is knowing what to end? Letting go of what’s no longer serving you creates the room for something greater. 💡
