Have you registered for Holman Athletic Performance's All-Inclusive 3-Day College Experience Tour?!

In addition to the three universities (Duke, NCState and Wake Forest) that we will be visiting and touring, there will be DOZENS of other elite college programs attending the camps. Coach Holman and HAP staff will prepare athletes for the camps and ensure that these college coaches know our athletes!

The all-inclusive aspect is put on my Holman Athletic Performance (HAP) LLC and it’s affiliates.

It seems like every week, my laptop tells me that I need to update my computer software. Every month, my phone does the same thing, forcing me to update to the latest operating system.

That got me to thinking…

How often do we manually update our mindset?
Updating our mindset, to me, means the following three things:

1. Making certain you have clarity of purpose in your life

When was the last time you started your day/week/month with intention? When was the last time you set goals for yourself, and updated them accordingly? Clarity of purpose-KNOWING what you are doing and why you are doing it-is essential to high performance.

2. “Debugging” your brain and daily life of bad, outdated habits

We are the product of our daily, automated behaviors and habits. If we want to improve our performance, in sport and life, we need to continually prune out our bad habits, or those habits that get in the way of us performing at our highest levels. These habits could include procrastination, excuse-making, poor nutrition, toxic relating, and so on.

3. Focusing on process, not outcome.

Process (how we go about doing things) is more important than outcome (what happens in the end), simply because we can control the former (process) and have no control over the latter (outcome). To update our mindset, we need to intentionally seek out better, faster, and stronger, in any area, and commit to this pursuit over the long-term, no matter what is happening in the short-term.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go update my computer. Again.
