Spring begins the time for patients presenting with Tinea Pedis (Athlete's Foot) and Intertrigo (infection between toes fungal and candidal). By the time most patients present to us, their infections are usually more advanced, painful and irritating. MY APPROACH: for the more severe infections is a 3-PRONG approach. First: application of topical anti-fungal and anti-bacterial creams and solutions coupled with oral agents in the most severe of cases. Second: once infection is neutralized, topical or oral anti-inflammatories and soothing agents to help repair the damaged skin. Third, and most importantly, use of agents, topically, to help reduce the onset of the infection before it can begin. Usually, anti-perspirants to change the local environment to make it hard for yeasts and fungus to establish. Sometimes, there are other factors involved such as improper shoe gear or swelling in feet and toes causing the intertrigo. In Columbus, OH area we are here to help with 35+ yrs of experience. INGROWN TOENAILS are a relatively benign but pervasive issue.
If left un-treated though, in vulnerable patients the nail infection can lead to severe adverse complications.

Since 1984, my success rate in permanently correcting this common problem is well OVER 99%.

How do I know?
Postoperatively, I follow these cases first until the wound is healed and most are healed completely within a 3-5 week period.

Then, my final postoperative contact with patients is 5-6 months postoperatively to insure there has been no RECURRENCE.

If a great toenail is removed or lost traumatically, it typically takes 5-6 months to fully grow out.

Therefore, to recheck a nail surgery post-op about 6 months later, I can be more confident that I was successful in resolving this issue.
