Vika’s last wrestling practice in America and she led that last Bulldog breakdown!

Sharing the successes and growth of the team with some fun sprinkled in

Before I became a teacher and wrestling coach, I hoped I could make a positive impact on students' lives and help guide them toward their goals. What I didn't realize was how much some of those students would impact me in return.
When Vika first arrived as a seventh grade Ukrainian refugee, she knew virtually no English. Even then, it was easy to see something special in her… her determination, resilience, and incredible work ethic. When I had her again in eighth grade, her English had improved tremendously, but one thing hadn't changed: she continued to outwork everyone around her.
Later, when Vika joined the wrestling team, that same dedication carried over into the wrestling room. She approached every challenge with courage, discipline, and a willingness to learn. It didn't take long for her to make a name for herself in the wrestling community, and watching her grow as both an athlete and a person has been an absolute privilege.
I pride myself on being a coach who cares deeply about my athletes both on and off the mat. What I didn't expect was that Vika would push me to become a better coach. Her perseverance, attitude, and commitment reminded me why I chose this profession in the first place.
Vika, I am incredibly honored to have been a small part of your journey here in America. The obstacles you've overcome and the success you've achieved are truly inspiring. I have no doubt that wherever life takes you next, you will continue to accomplish great things.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your story. Wishing you nothing but success, happiness, and opportunity in the future. The wrestling room, and our school, will be better because you were here.
We're all proud of you. 🇺🇦❤️🤼♀️
