Another Chili Scramble in the books at Van Berg Golf Course, and as always, it was an absolute blast!
Our crew went out and fired a 57 — 15 UNDER! Normally you’d feel pretty damn good about that… until you realize the playoff teams shot 56, 55, and 54. 😂 So there we were, ONE STROKE away from the playoffs.
Apparently our problem is we’re trying too hard. 🤣 We had teams make the playoffs shooting 4-under and 6-under, so maybe next year the strategy is simple: make fewer birdies. 😂
The alternate-shot playoff format is still one of my favorites. It’s been a couple years since we’ve gotten ourselves into it, but one of these years we’ll figure it out again. Apparently 15-under just isn’t cutting it. 😂
Also got introduced to a little game called Buffalo yesterday. I’m not going into details… but I’ll just say it’s pretty damn fun and leave it at that. 🍻😂
Huge thanks to Jed for joining the crew — awesome dude and definitely glad we got to know him — and to my buddy Ryan for coming out and playing with us. Appreciate you guys! Great golf, plenty of laughs, and an all-around great day.
And most importantly, a HUGE shoutout to everyone at Van Berg Golf Course — the bartenders, staff, and everyone behind the scenes who puts this scramble together. These events don't just happen on their own, and you guys always do an awesome job.
The Chili Scramble continues to be one of my favorite tournaments every year. Great format, great people, great course, and an even better time.
57. 15-under. One damn stroke short. 😂
Maybe next year we shoot 4-under and finally make the playoff. 🤷♂️🤣
Thanks again, Van Berg! Until next year! ⛳️🍻
