Mad River United 12U Boys finished the Creek Classic Tournament & their spring season with a 2-0 victory over Lakota FC White.
Bentley Harrat played one of his best games as goalkeeper, blocking every one of the more than 10 on-target shots by Lakota.
Gauge Iiams, Owen Bayliss, and Mattox Wenger were a strong defensive unit, being able to clog Lakota’s passing lanes and clearing the ball out of Mad River’s defensive end of the pitch.
Carter Haver, George Haver, Max Millis, & Bo White managed the midfield positions today. Doing good work at facilitating the ball up from the defense and passing up to the forwards. George Haver had at least 3 shots that if not for some luck on the Lakota keeper’s side would’ve been goals as well.
Aden Hammer & Tommy Brannon were the main forwards for the day. Together, they had numerous shots on goal, with Brannon scoring both goals for Mad River, and leading the team with 11 total goals this season.
The first goal scored by Brannon was off of a drop kick by Harrat, after one of his many saves. The ball bounced just beyond the midline, and Brannon directed it past 2 defenders and was able to shoot it past the Lakota keeper. The 2nd goal came after halftime on a throw-in from Millis and an assisting pass from Carter Haver and sealed the win for Mad River.
While the team record of 3-11 this spring is not the result we hoped for, the growth and improvement made by the team is very apparent.
Special thanks belong to Coach Matt Wenger & Coach Jeremiah Haver for teaching and guiding this young men through the season and setting them up for future soccer successes.

Match #6 of the season brought Mad River United FC 12U Boys their 2nd consecutive win.

Mad River United FC 12u boys fell 0-4 to Classic Eagle Vipers 4/26. In what was a tough match where the effort was there but the ball just wasn’t moving and falling like it should. The boys bounced back Sunday 4/27 playing Delaware Knights, falling behind 4-2 at the half, then pitching the shutout in the second half and coming out on top 5-4. Team play was the key with players moving into the open areas and a lot of great passing. giving the boys their first win. Scoring were Luman Lambert 2x, Tommy Brannon, Owen Bayliss, and Max Millis .
