October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. This gathering honors Black moms and their angels, and it is a listening session: what helped after a loss, what was missing, and what would help. What the room says shapes the Afro Angels pilot, which will serve 15 Black mothers in Los Angeles County in 2027 with a complete Healing & Support Bundle at no cost.
The day includes a grounding sound bath, table conversations, community story sharing, and a panel, What Black Mothers Need After Loss, with Lorna Leverette, Cassandra Carter-Williams, Jade Ross, Debbie Allen, and Keomi Barksdale.
Who should come: birth workers, doulas and midwives, mental health and perinatal professionals, mothers and families who have experienced loss, and anyone who wants to stand with this community. Share only what you choose; nothing leaves the room with a name on it.
Know before you go: HearthWood has no parking lot. Parking is street and residential only, so allow a few extra minutes.
