This workshop fuses fascial release, restorative aspects of yoga, self-massage and simple breath-based mindfulness. The result is an enhanced capacity to identify and relieve areas of your body that are overused, underused, misused or abused and are potential catalysts for pain and energy blockage. Ultimately taking you where no ordinary yoga practice will take you – deep into your fascial layer!

We will explore the soft-tissue scaffolding that links everything inside of you together. Tennis Balls, Back Mitra and other tools designed specifically for deep body work, will be utilized to unlock fascial restrictions within the structure and aide in revitalizing your body’s own self-healing nature.

This therapeutic approach is a great compliment to any type of physical activity to keep your body functioning as it was intended. Self-care is an invaluable component to living better in your own body! You will leave with a simple but effective knowledge of myofascial release that you can apply on your own at home.

Module 1: UPPER BODY: Head to Hips

Part one of this workshop series is designed to relieve stiffness and discomfort in the neck, shoulders, chest, and back. The goal of this workshop is to restore a natural and healthy position associated with optimal posture as the deep structural muscles of the upper body relax.

Module 2: LOWER BODY: Hips to Heels
Sunday, February 23 | 2:00-4:30pm
In part two of this workshop, you will learn how to release the layers of fascia, decrease tension, and create space in your feet, legs and hips.
The goal of this workshop is to allow powerful muscles in the lower body the opportunity to move past one another with less friction. This means improved range of motion and reduced pain in your day to day life.

Manipulating fascia can manifest strong sensations that can be intense. Students will be asked to manage their own experience, and consult a physician if they have medical issues that need to be addressed. However, most students have found this method to provide a significant source of relief while increasing mobility, flexibility and health. Please hydrate well before and after taking this workshop.

Through the practice of Yoga Nidra we will acknowledge and honor 2019 and the past decade allowing what no longer serves to be released and what continues to serve to be absorbed and integrated within for 2020.

You will receive an intentions card upon arrival with a handcrafted new year intention bracelet. You will write your intentions and manifestations for 2020 on this card and place at the top of your mat during nidra and sound healing with the symphonic gong. Retaining what does sustain us, we will integrate deep into our inner blueprint. During Yoga Nidra, we will deep descend into the ocean of spacial awareness and deep restorative self-care. Melt away 2019 and create room for the new year. A natural born teacher, Julie Deife (dye’ fee) BaEd, MBA, IRest Yoga Nidra Meditation and LifeForce Yoga teacher, has a unique background in yoga education. Julie’s work has had an influence in the yoga world for nearly two decades. She has studied with, written about, and interviewed some of the world’s leading yoga, Ayurveda and meditation teachers. Julie teaches in Corrales, NM.
Julie is the founding publisher/editor in chief of Los Angeles-based “LAYOGA Ayurveda and Health” magazine (2002-2008). She served as editor in chief of “Yoga Therapy Today” magazine for the International Association of Yoga Therapists and consultant to Yoga Alliance; she founded/produced five annual Southwest Yoga Conferences (1998 – 2002). She has travelled to India four times since 2002, focusing on yoga and Ayurveda.
Teaching privately; selected populations i.e. individuals with PTSD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, and classes for Veterans; Community Yoga Classes; programs for employee and/or organizational development is for Julie the natural progression of decades of study and practice, devotion to yoga and love of teaching.
Over the last several years Julie has focused her studies with Richard Miller PhD/Integrative Restoration (iRest) www.irest.us, Amy Weintraub/LifeForce Yoga www.yogafordepression and Rama Jyoti Vernon. Julie completed iRest Level II and is in the iRest certification program; and LifeForce Yoga Practitioner Level One. Julie is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
In over 35 years of personal yoga and meditation study and practice Julie, yoga educator and mentor, has gone deeply into relationships between yoga and meditation practices and their effects on mental, physical and emotional health based on traditional texts and teachings, her personal practice, advanced trainings and an ever-expanding body of evidence-based yoga and meditation research.
In a previous incarnation (1973-1998) Julie taught in public schools in Washington and New Mexico and worked as a social-issue marketing consultant for businesses, non-profits and governmental organizations (1992-2010).
Her love of the outdoors and nature stemming from childhood on a farm and continuing to this day, brings an expanded awareness to her delivery of yoga and meditation practices which fosters understanding of the inherent and unchanging perfection in all – including ourselves.
Julie Deife lives in Corrales, New Mexico with her husband Bob Belinoff, two cats and a view of the Sandia Mountain range.

You experience: body-sensing practices based on the homunculus theory, which outlines a neural map of how our senses unfold; a down-to-earth style of meditation that makes it easy to see how these teachings can inform our modern lives; a unique practice for working with feelings and thoughts on the mat, so you're less likely to be hijacked by them in daily life; how these practices help remove barriers to knowing your inherent goodness and feeling at one with all that is.
