"Pound for pound, the most useful tool I packed for US Army Ranger School was yoga. My muscles were strong and flexible which warded off injury. But the benefit was more than just physical. I had a greater awareness of my body and my mind. I could control my breathing during stressful moments. I focused not on trying hard but trying easy. Many of these yogic insights helped me later on three deployments to Afghanistan. On my current deployment, a sense of duty has compelled me to spread my knowledge of the practice. I now teach yoga to soldiers and civilians, encouraging the lightness I found in Ranger School all those years ago."
