Setbacks are not stop signs—they’re soul whispers guiding you toward something deeper. Let them refine you, not define you, and fuel the fire that keeps you moving forward.

Even in your lowest moments, you are still worthy. Your value does not diminish because you’re in the valley. In fact, that’s where some of your strongest roots will grow. Keep choosing yourself, again and again, until the light finds you—and even then, don’t stop.

Today isn’t a holiday or a big milestone, it’s just a regular Monday, and still, my heart is full. In a world that keeps throwing so much at us, it means everything to be able to hold space for this community. To move through tension with breath, presence, and love. To connect in ways that remind us we’re not alone. As you move through this week, know that we are here for you ALWAYS, rooted in care, grounded in truth, and always HEART FORWARD!

You don’t have to shrink or overextend to be seen, your existence is already expansive. Let that sink in for a second, y’all! Walk into this week knowing that your light doesn’t need permission to shine. Let your energy speak for itself without forcing or explaining. You are already doing enough, just by being you. Do something soulful to fight the Sunday scaries!

This is your quarterly reminder that no is a full sentence and you are entitled to your boundaries. You don’t owe anyone overexplanation, overextension, or self-sacrifice in the name of keeping the peace. Honoring your needs is not selfish—it’s sacred. The more we practice boundaries, the more we normalize care that includes ourselves, too. In a world that constantly demands our energy, protecting your peace is a radical act.

Tonight’s full moon is a reminder to release what no longer serves and illuminate what’s been hidden. Let this light guide you back to yourself. Breathe deep. Reflect. Recalibrate. That thing that’s been blocking your flow? It’s time to face it and take action. Even one small step can shift everything. The clarity you’ve been waiting for might just arrive. 🌕

“Everything is everything… what is meant to be will be.” ✨
As the world shifts and our lives take new shapes, one thing remains: our capacity to evolve. Through all the changes—BIG and small—we continue to learn, grow, thrive, and fly.

At Urban Asanas, we root in the practice, rise in our truth, and remember that our wings were never broken. Keep showing up for yourself. The journey is yours, but you’re never alone. 💫

July is BIPOC Mental Health Month , meaning a time to remind ourselves and our communities that internal battles deserve care, not concealment. Masking pain without release doesn’t make it disappear. It builds, it festers, and eventually, it shows up in our bodies. Stress is not just emotional; it can manifest physically, contributing to the health disparities that disproportionately affect us. You don’t have to hold it all alone. Movement, breath, and community are tools. Let’s use them. Remember there is nothing weak about needing help and support. 🖤

Whether you know it our not, your joy is contagious and the love that comes from you is filling those around you. It’s time to be a neighbor more than ever. Today we hold space for the truth. Freedom remains out of reach for so many, especially those most vulnerable in and around our communities. It’s hard to celebrate when harm persists, but we can still choose to move with care. Check in on your people. Extend some love and be a light to those around you. Be the reminder that community is our greatest resource.

STUDIO CLOSED - We’ll see you tomorrow ✨

Jyll Hubbard-Salk decided to open Urban Asanas in her neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn as a space for people of all walks of life and backgrounds to come together, practice yoga and breathe.

Since 2012, Urban Asanas has cultivated a diverse and growing community, offering many styles of yoga and workshops to practitioners of all levels. In 2017, Jyll moved the studio three doors down to the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Sterling Place, expanding into a larger, beautiful space featuring bamboo floors and lots of natural light.

Urban Asanas continues to focus on building community and making yoga fun and accessible to all. The studio offers multiple donation based classes every week, free yoga mat rentals and discounted rates for seniors and high school students. Classes range from high intensity Power with a focus on alignment and building strength to 60 minute donation based Community classes offering a Vinyasa flow. Also on our weekly schedule are prenatal yoga and restorative, slow moving Yin classes. In addition, we organize monthly workshops bringing different forms of wellness, yoga and self care to our community.

Whether you are a seasoned yogi or have never tried yoga before, the doors of Urban Asanas are open and we look forward to meeting you.
