Sensei Says:
THE JAPANESE SECRETS
Never esteem anything as an advantage to you that will make you break your word or lose your self-respect. Marcus Aurelius
Anything that makes you break your word, lower your standards, or lose your self-respect will never be an advantage for you in the long run. It may seem like an advantage at first, but it is merely an illusion; it is shortsighted and unwise.
Your word is your honor. When you break your word, you lose your honor, and when you lose your honor, you lose your self-respect.
Self-esteem and self-respect are fragile concepts that can be easily lost if not carefully maintained.
Once you decide to live by a code of honor and Stoic principles, lowering your standards or breaking those principles will damage your self-respect and self-esteem. That means anything that tempts you to lower your standards, set your honor aside, or go against what you know is right will not be a true advantage for you, no matter how it may appear...
Don’t esteem anything as more important than your honor or principles, no matter who you are with or what you are doing.
Once again, I will remind you of what the great sage Baltasar Gracian wrote: “The man of principle does not forget who he is because of what others are.”

Sensei Says:
I didn’t get better because I felt motivated.
I got better because I trained even when I didn’t feel like it.
I train because comfort makes you soft.
I train because discipline exposes excuses.
I train because pressure reveals what’s truly in you.

Sparring Tips
Stay Relaxed & Breathe: Nerves cause premature fatigue. Keep your muscles loose and exhale when punching to maintain stamina.
Prioritize Defense: Focus on slipping, blocking, and parrying before attempting complex combinations.
Keep Eyes Open: Never look away or close your eyes when punches come in.
Control Your Ego: Do not try to win the sparring session. If you get hit, do not get angry; treat it as a lesson to improve your defense.
Manage Intensity: Communicate with your partner to set the pace. Spar at a technical, controlled pace, especially when starting out.
Have fun
Sensei Says:
Sparring is about technical development and learning, not winning. Key tips include staying relaxed to conserve energy, focusing on defense, maintaining proper range through footwork, and keeping your eyes open. You can start slow, prioritize landing jabs, communicate with partners, and avoid holding your breath.

SENSEI SAYS:
May this be the day when it all comes together
Happiness in your heart
Serenity in your soul
Success in all the things you do
Time enough to reach for your dreams
Patience to see you through
Inner beauty
An open mind
Days that find you feeling wonderful
Confidence, strong and lasting
Strength to do what needs to be done
Believing in tomorrow
Living in today
Knowing the right way is the only way
Clearing out the confusion
Facing the facts
Not being afraid
Never giving up
Finding hope in hard-to-find places
Putting smiles on other people's faces
Knowing when to talk
And knowing when to listen
Standing by the truth
Being firm in your commitments
Using your insight to set you right
Going from rock bottom to the mountain top
Learning from mistakes
Understanding the greatness within
Looking for the good that is always there
Sharing the things that need to be shared
Remembering that it can all be a puzzle, but solving problems is one of the sweet joys of life
You can always pick up the pieces
And you can always make things right
