This is Alaska!

I have always led an unconventional life as a female who stands apart. At age 15, I organized my first sit-in, with over 200 participants for gender equality in the school dress code. With good negotiation, I won the rights you express every time you wear pants to school or work. It was quite an accomplishment for a budding young Wild Woman.

As I continued through life, I challenged several other systems and traditions. I always fought for the un and/or under represented group with a goal of justice and empowerment. I have argued for women’s rights, children’s rights and even angler’s rights. I did not always win, but I always made a strong fight that ended with my side being given a voice that was heard.

Being raised by parents who were entrepreneurs, it was natural for me to start my first business while in high school. My parents encouraged my independence and originality while challenging me to reach for more. I enjoyed the thrill and challenge of operating a business and went on to start and sell two other businesses before age 32. It was fun but I wanted to do more for those who needed my help.

For 20 years I partnered in a sport fishing guide business. Through this work, I discovered that few women participate in the outdoors. My mother, who was an avid fisherman, gave it up, as she grew older because she could no longer use her children as an excuse for participation. This led me to do research and study as to what would get women outdoors. Then came…

When you see a woman pulling up her "big girl panties" you better bet that Wild times are about to begin.

So very proud of our young Wild Women students who exercised their 1st Amendment right yesterday to speak against violence in our schools. We applaud them.

Let me hear from you. 2018 event should be where?

THE 1ST 3 DAYS Alaska 2018: Land in Anchorage - drive to Homer Spit - explore Homer and Salty Dog Saloon (1 of a kind) - on to Seward - 6 hour glaciers/whales/puffins and more tour - then to Whittier to drive thru the mountain on railroad tracks - back to Anchorage ---- This will be a very busy journey around the state including 3 national parks, many small airplanes and lots of boats.

This trip is a "join us.... if you can keep up. I will share our plans then you must drive yourself and book your own rooms. I will assist as much as possible. You can "jump on or off" as you want. To complete the entire journey will take 2 weeks and cost approximately $3000/double and this does not include airfare to Anchorage. Anyone who is still interested message me.

Planning a July 2018 trip to Alaska. 15 days, 2 National Parks, a little fishing and grizzlies, float planes and the entire road system. A real Alaskan adventure.... Not for the "non Wild" among us. Who's interested?

What is going on in this world? I need for all Wild Women to do something nice today for someone else. Prove that we are better than what is going on. We can move mountains. And...make change happen.

To all Wild Women, new challenges are ahead.

It is time for Wild Women Unite LLC to pause and reflect on all we have accomplished and change course to start our new journey. As your leader, and the Original, I have decided to take a hiatus from leading and spend some time on personal growth and reflection. Just as all things wild, I need to shed a layer and make room for growth.

It is a very proud time for women as we banded together for the largest gathering across the world to stand united and be heard. Being a Wild Woman demands that we never stand silent when we see harm coming to women. Being a Wild Woman means we will never stand idle when there is an adventure at hand. Being a Wild Woman means that you will not be afraid to take on the challenge of trying something new. This is what we are all about!

Most importantly, being a Wild Woman means that you always see your beauty when you look into the mirror. We are all very beautiful. We are all very strong. We are all one. Let us never forget that. Always remember: WILD WOMEN UNITE!

This is not goodbye, but only, a pause. I will return to lead Wild Women on our next journey, when I decide which direction is best for our growth. If you aren’t yet connected, find me on Twitter . In addition, I will leave the Wild Women Unite FaceBook page active and communicate with you there, as well.

With pride,
Yvonne, the Original Wild Woman

This march is a show of solidarity to demand our safety and health in a time when our country is marginalizing us and making sexual assault an electable and forgivable norm. We align with all POC and LGBTQ causes, and we will show our support in a non-violent protest. This is an INCLUSIVE march, and EVERYONE who supports women’s rights are welcome.
