North Texas Ballet Folklorico Contest

Join us on June 20, 2026 for a Ballet Folklórico Huasteca Workshop designed for intermediate and advanced dancers ages 13 and up. Participants will explore the five regions of the Huasteca: Tamaulipas, Hidalgo, Veracruz, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí. Dancers will learn one dance from each region while gaining a deeper understanding of the unique movement styles, technical elements, costuming, music, and cultural history associated with each tradition.

This workshop is designed not only to strengthen dancers' technical and artistic skills, but also to build community, connect school districts with local folklórico groups, and celebrate the beauty and diversity of Ballet Folklórico. Through this collaborative educational experience, participants will engage in cultural learning and foster relationships that support the continued growth of folklórico dance in schools and communities.

Educators are welcome to join us and receive CPE hours.

Our friends at Alegre Ballet Folklórico in Dallas, Texas, are hosting a Workshop Series for Male Dancers, and they have graciously extended an invitation to our TADC community to participate.

This is a wonderful opportunity for male dancers to continue developing their technique, artistry, and understanding of Ballet Folklórico in a focused learning environment. We encourage you to take advantage of this experience and support this initiative that continues to elevate and strengthen male representation in Folklórico dance.
