se. I worked my way up from production assistant to producer, director and writer. In 1989, I moved to New Orleans for a corporate production job as a producer, director and writer for a convention news show. I recorded a scratch track for a client’s commercial, and it was such a hit that voicing tracks became a part of my job. After a few years I left the corporate-gypsy life and returned to the Dallas freelance production sphere. I also put my musical training to work as a voice coach for actors and singers. As the volunteer program director for the Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration, I began to understand the power of arts-in-education. In 1993, I joined the roster for Texas Commission on the Arts and Young Audiences of North Texas as an Artist-in-Residence, and lead programs in filmmaking and media literacy for K-12 schools and at-risk youth. Professional development seminars for educators and artists quickly followed. In 1997, I was recruited as Education Director for Dallas Community Television, and in 2003, I co-founded a non-profit media education organization, Collaborating Artists Media Project (CAMP), and became Executive Director. By the time I left in 2008, we had served over 4000 children and produced over 6000 student films. We trained dozens of artists and educators to use media as a tool to engage, uplift and enlighten children. After a much needed sabbatical, it was time to get back to work! To see personal transformations first-hand, and to know that we planted the seeds of growth for so many children and educators was a remarkable experience, but it was time to turn the page. How to re-purpose my experience and skills to continue my mission? I love stories. I love reading them, and I love writing them. It’s a great passion, and I decided to make this my focus.
