The PBA by 1891 features 52 teams Nationwide that play year round with two distinct seasons. The Fall/Winter season beginning November 5th runs for four months thru the Month of February with playoffs in March and a Spring/Summer season that plays another 4 months from May to August with playoffs in September. With a one month break between each season, teams around the league have the choice to play in one or the other or both. Why Fall/Winter? The classic basketball season is historically when basketball is played around the World. Players who have overseas opportunities have the ability to join clubs abroad and return to their clubs in the States. Why Spring/Summer? This is when most players return from overseas and are working towards NBA Summer League opportunities. Instead of taking 6 months away from their fans and sponsors and starting all over again after a 6 month break, PBA by 1891 members of the Association are able to keep the momentum with the business of basketball and on the court, able to keep their guys active and continuing to reach new heights without missing out on the progress made on their games or in their communities during the Spring/Summer months.

The Pro Basketball Association announced a merger and naming rights today, August 1st, 2022 and will now be known as PBA by 1891. As a part of the agreement moving forward the two companies will become one and work hand in hand to manage, create, and develop markets throughout North America combining a unique mix of technology, vision, marketing, promotion, and professionalism to foster the growth of a family of brands many consider to be the highest level of professional basketball after the NBA and NBA G-League. As a part of the announcement, resources in the amount of $100,000.00 U.S. Dollars will be paid out in prize winnings for the top teams in the league over a 2 year period beginning with the Fall-Winter season 2022.
