-Cardio Is The Best For Weight Loss
I used to think cardio was the absolute bee's knees for fat loss. The more I'd do the better off I was, this isn't true or SUSTAINABLE. Cardio is a good tool, but definitely not the best and repetitive motion over a long period of time will result in injury.

Building lean muscle mass is the most sustainable way for weight loss. Muscle is more expensive to maintain, it's easy to keep once you have it, and it gives you more overall energy.

-Diets Are The Best Way To Lose Weight
Want to lose weight? Go on a diet, or so I thought....turns out I'd gain the weight back from every single diet I tried. Sound familiar? People who go on diets gain back the weight 97% of the time. The stat doesn't surprise me, diets essentially shock your body and change all of your eating habits overnight.

Sustainable micro changes and focusing on mindful behavior eating will definitely take you further. Learn to cook, see what small changes you can make tomorrow that won't shock your system.

-My Metabolism Is Just Bad
"You're so lucky you have a fast metabolism." Is what I'd say to people who'd I see inhale tons of food with seemingly no consequence. What I didn't realize is that their metabolism is high as a result of their overall lifestyle. They moved more, had more muscle mass, and their body was able to handle more calories as a result. Your metabolism isn't static, it's always changing. Want to increase your metabolism? Lift weights and get more muscle mass, fuel your body (yay protein!) so it has the tools necessary to build muscle and boost metabolism.

It’s true, intensity plays a roll. But if your goal is to feel super sore and be drenched then it’s poor programming. Your goal should be consistency and being so sore you can’t move the next day will prevent that. Small leaps in strength will outperform any workout that just makes you feel tired. Workout smarter, not harder.

Core Stability — Going Hamm Fitness 06/07/2023

NEW BLOG POST!

CORE STABILITY. It’s one of the most overlooked areas by most people, but happens to be one of the most important things you can focus on.

Core Stability — Going Hamm Fitness Why you should care about Core Stability and what workouts I like to increase it.

I used to workout from a place of punishment. Mad at myself for what I ate or for not moving enough. I was mad at my performance and nothing was good enough. It wasn’t until I appreciated just waking up that everything changed. Our bodies are insane adapting machines that do an insane amount for us on a daily basis. Take time and have some gratitude for what it’s doing and what it’s done. I mean, who’s more likely to show up day after day? The you that’s there to beat the s**t out of themselves or the you that’s there because you’re grateful of what your body can do.

Telling yourself I never will isn’t giving yourself a chance. Changing it from not if, but when (even if it takes years!) is clutch to weight loss. Giving yourself time and realizing weight loss isn’t a straight arrow of progression but a series of staircases that need to be climbed will set realistic expectations. This is especially important since you WILL get off track. Life happens, calories are delicious. Realizing you will get off track ahead of time can mentally prepare you to get back ON track.

Focusing on what you’re able to do in the moment will take you so further than what your limitations are. Injured shoulder? Work legs, suck at running? Go walk! A daily check in to see how your body feels will keep you from getting injured and will result in more consistent and sustainable results.

End. Of. Rant.

Weight loss isn’t easy. Here are quick and easy things I eat on a daily basis if I’m in a pinch.

-Greek Yogurt
Yogurt bowl, whey protein, granola, coconut, honey, fruit
35-40g of protein.
-Eggs! No brainer here
Cottage cheese egg bites using some ham or broccoli. 9-10g of protein per egg bite.
-Quick Rolled oats
Oats with PBfit whey, granola, any fruit, granola, honey, dollop of peanut butter.
20-28g of protein.

All delicious and all easy to make.

The most growth happens when we push ourselves to be better than yesterday. Progress doesn’t happen through leaps, but through CONSISTENT micro steps.

FACT: It is literally impossible to recover and build muscle without adequate sleep (7-10hrs). This is your body's time to heal and recover, you will not be able to change body composition without adequate sleep.
