Learning how to survive on the mat! As a beginner white belt the main focus is just learning how to slow down your rolling mate. As a former wrestler, it’s tough to separate what works in wrestling with what works in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Lots of instincts have been beneficial (such as my desire for ankle control), but many of the ideal intermediate body positions are exactly the opposite.
I love watching my strength being completely negated by my opponents technique and it sparks my desire to show up every day and improve. It truly is like chess with your body. Every action requires an adjustment to the plan. Every part of your body can be useful, and I’m working hard at learning to make the best use of my limbs that are in the worst position, and thinking beyond my hips and arms.
Thank you to the great squad at Abdias Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Carlos Araujo Neto and all the guidance you share with me.

I get tons of questions every day, so I created an way for people to follow along.
In 2019 I was flotaing between 240-250lbs, & in August I decided to change that. 6 Months later, I had dropped 65lbs and fitness & nutrition is a part of my daily routine.
