Your breastplate does more than just keep your saddle in place. A breastplate that fits well, keeps you balanced and centred as a rider, which means you ride more effectively & are less likely to have a fall. Riding is hard - there's no need to make it even harder by being lopsided!

Lopsided riding also means uneven weight distribution for your horse, which creates all kind of harm to the horse's back. And, your horse compensating for you being unbalanced can mean they travel differently to compensate, putting unnatural loading on joints.
