Another great showing for VHS at Undisputed this year. continues to be the home of the single greatest and largest esports event in the state of Texas, true to its name— !

Vanguard esports is losing some titans this year, but we’re not gonna let that stop us from continuing to improve, compete and bring home the glory! Thanks to all the rest of the district that came and supported and for for making this possible!

Vanguard esports would like to recognize Emiliano Medrano this week! Emi has shown great dedication and skill this year as the newest addition to the Vanguard Rocket League JV team. Emi represents the future of the program, as many seniors depart this season. However, we couldn’t be happier as Emi constantly brings good vibes and great gameplay.

Another round of announcements! These Vanguards qualified for the Vanguard esports team last week and will be reporting for duty for their first round of matches in the coming weeks. Be sure to catch the action on Twitch, or see it live by coming to G203 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. With the help of Mr. Cuellar, we will not be offering casual days on Wednesday and Thursday to allow all of our Vanguards to come and share their love of gaming together.

Congratulations to these Vanguards who made it onto the following esports teams! If you see your name, be sure to report to G203 on Tuesday, January 20th after school for your first official esports meeting!

We like to highlight our players, and who better to highlight than the Overwatch 2 team captain, Solomon Collier!

Solomon has been with Vanguard esports for 3 years now and serves as this year’s team captain to a stacked team. He loves to play games in his free time, and Overwatch is definitely one of his favs! But, his favorite game of all time is Ghost of Tsushima.

He can’t wait to hit it big at state this year and hopes everyone at will support his dream and his team!

It’s a MASSIVE year for Vanguard esports. We can’t wait to see what these competitors bring to the table as we hunt down a championship belt this year!

Special congratulations to everyone who made a team this year and thank you to all the volunteers who want to offer support to VHS esports this year as managers, graphic designers and broadcasters. If you see your name, or you’re a returning member, join us on Monday, September 8th after school in the lecture hall to begin your esports journey.

Vanguard esports alongside had a great time today at the event today! Esports brought home a 2-year championship and students operated a booth to showcase the awesome things happening at while the Space Dolphins put together a robot!

Then, we had a special visitor! Superintendent Dr. Angel Rivera stopped by to see what we were up to and then participated in a Just Dance competition! He got second amongst all the superintendents (we were clearly robbed), but Dr. Rivera really busted a move out there!

It was a great time. Thank you to everybody who showed up and competed, volunteered, cheered, ate and, most importantly, had fun with us today. We can’t wait to be part of events like this in the future as esports in Mesquite ISD grows and leads the in the metroplex and awesome opportunities for students!

Congratulations to our winners—we hope they’ll come back and defend their titles real soon!
