Good morning!

I hope you are all having an amazing start to your season!

I apologize for the time since my last post. have been working through some things for the NACCC. As of July 1, I stepped down as the executive director of the NACCC. I do not know if the NACCC will continue. That will be up to Tate.

I want to thank all of you! I appreciate your input, perseverance, time and caring!

Even if we do not have the NACCC, please continue to make our industry better for the coaches and the athletes!

Cheers and God Bless,

With the cost of our industry always going up, are there any ideas you have established to save your families money?

Think about this before answering. If we had a scoring system that worked, that is scored all teams appropriately, would you be ok with the judges not putting comments on your scoresheet?

I have had several calls this week with coaches asking if the NACCC will be supporting the World Allstar Federation of the USASF. My answer will always be, We will support any entity, organization or association that puts the coaches and athletes first. We are not here to divide the sport. You may have/want to make a decision that is best for you and your gym in the long run. Educate yourself and go by what your need.

Had a conversation with a coach today that was looking for my advice on the new scoresheet.

Coach, “What am I supposed to do with those kids that aren’t going to be on the same level as they were last year because of the higher requirements?”
Me, “Train them up.”

That’s our job. If you are not taking the time to train up your athletes, you need to step up and do it. Quit just training a routine and work on your athletes.

Too many coaches want to have the athletes given to them ready and to only work the routine.

Time to put the work into these kids. They deserve it..

Whether you are a fan or not of the new scoring system, your opinion matters. Continue to give your input. But will a new or different scoresheet solve the problems we are having? It is not just the scoresheet. I would like to hear from EPs no matter what system they use, to address the issues of:
Better of judges training
Allowing time for judges to score properly
Proper pay scale for judges
Removing biased judges
And others.

With tryouts right around the corner, just a suggestion to start your new year.

Set the atmosphere you want for your gym from the first day of tryouts. Do you want to be all business and going for national titles? Or Friendly, want every kid to have fun? Or somewhere in between. Parents and athletes should know what they are getting into from day one. We all put that energy into tryouts trying to attract new athletes, but is that the energy we put in every day? Are you like that athlete that only throws that skill needed to make a certain level at tryouts, but never throws it ever again?

The team atmosphere starts with the owners and coaches

The committees and myself I’ve had several meetings with veteran, respected judges and event producers over the past few weeks. Though there are problems with the present score sheet and there are great minds that have put effort into making it better, there are some still major issues that if not addressed, it won’t make any difference what scoresheet we use. These include:

Allowing enough time for judges to script and fill out the score sheet properly
EPs putting limits on how low a judge can score
A proper pay scale to incentivize judges
Proper electronics to review if necessary
Judges lack of knowledge of skills
Need of responsible judges (cancelling last minute)
Most importantly, Proper training of judges

We are presently working with these judges and EP’s to solve or at least minimize the problems above
