Someone had damaged Rachel’s cross so Guy had to nail it back together and repaint it. Rachel’s legacy lives on with that cable barrier stretched down I-635, continuing to prevent crossover accidents from happening, almost 20 years later!

20 years since Rachel’s passing and the emotions can still come flooding in over us. We put away all the cards and notes received and didn't review them until now thinking that enough time had gone by that we wouldn't be affected by them. But we are, greatly affected. The pain is not as great as then, but the feelings and emotions are still as fresh. We can't help but wonder what might have been; how different our lives would be. But we know so many lives have been changed, so many touched by your short, wonderful life; so many attending ACU; so many spared by a cable barrier; so many remembered and honored by a highway sign. We will never know all the stories.
The cards and letters, and these messages here, remind us of how much you were loved because you loved. They remind us that a person's worth in life is not measured by time and years lived but by the amount of love they give and how the world was changed because they lived.
We love you and we miss you, but we know we will see you soon.

Thanks, Ken Leonard, for posting this!❤️
This reminded me of Rachel Blasingame and made me smile though she’s been gone for almost 17 years. She used to read her Bible under the covers when she was supposed to be asleep. Now she’s an angel. She was just a few weeks short of her 17th birthday. It occurs to me that as of last week, she has been in heaven longer than she was here with us. She is still very alive in our hearts.
Now she can drink in the word directly from the Master. That’s a very cool thought.

Thank you so much, to the mystery person, who lovingly put a beautiful red heart flower on Rachel’s cross, added a nice, metal flower decoration, AND a solar-powered light, to light up her cross at night time! What a wonderful act of kindness that someone took the time to do this off I-635 in Mesquite!
