Excited about the holidays, but don’t want to take 10 steps back on your fitness goals?
Here are a few ideas to help you start getting ready for the holiday season. 😉
❇️ Stay Hydrated! Make sure and drink plenty of water! Especially if you hit the egg nog a little too hard. 😏
❇️ Get plenty of sleep. Holiday parties and families tend to interrupt our normal sleep cycle, so take advantage of being off work and get some 😴
❇️ Savor every bite of food! Go ahead and eat what you want, just slow down a bit when you do. It will give your brain time to realize your stomach is full.
❇️ Avoid grazing. It’s easy to do around this time of year when food is almost always out on the table. Try to only eat at meal times and avoid constant snacking.
❇️ Get a holiday workout buddy. Maybe it’s the cousin you haven’t seen in a year or the heavily tattooed uncle that likes to give you a hard time. 🤣 Go on a walk, throw the football with the kids, or maybe a game of horse. You don’t have to hit the gym, just try not to sit on the couch all day.
❇️ Remember, it’s holiDAY, not holiMONTH. Enjoy yourself for a couple of days, then get back to your normal routine! Don’t let a good time seeing family and friends turn into a 10-pound gain for the month.

Talk to yourself like someone you love.
“I need to get my fat ass to the gym.”
“Bad things always happen to me.”
“I don’t deserve to be happy.”
It may seem like a harmless comment or a random thought, but the way we talk to ourselves plays a big role in our overall brain function and how we approach life!
Negative self-talk can be a crippling handicap if it becomes a habit. It can cause anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, and basically lead to a pretty sh*tty day 🤷♂️
The next time you catch yourself talking down to, well yourself, try these tips out to help change the tide.
❇️Be aware of the way you talk to yourself. Pour energy into a positive thought, then into words, then into action!
❇️Check in with your feelings. If you find yourself in a negative mind trap, evaluate your self-talk and change your direction!
❇️Surround yourself with positive people. If your inner circle is upbeat and positive, that emotion will be contagious.
❇️”I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggonnit, people like me!”
The best way to combat negative self-talk is to engage in positive self-talk!
You don’t have to go all Stuart Smalley on it, but a little humor and a positive word about yourself will go a long way to a better day 😊

It’s Friday…Get it!
There is nothing worse than not feeling strong enough, feeling weak and uninpowered. Start with your body this weekend, and choose to do something that will make you feel strong-er. It could be as easy as doing some of these movements I am showing you here or taking a running outside, throwing a ball… the key thing is to move your body!
Don’t let your responsibilities and the weight of your life take away your power. It starts with your mind, and it starts in your body.

"Looking good" always starts with "feeling good" and having an overall sense of good health and well being. Here are 3 healthy habits to start today to start you on that road:
1 - Try to get 10K steps a day, that could be as easy as a walk through the park or your neighborhood.
2 - Get 30 minutes of sunlight before noon - try getting up and getting that walk first thing in the morning.
3 - Get at least 6 hours of sleep. You may need more, but there is no debate that sleeping is one of nature's best remedies for overall health... get some!

It's September 1 and we're counting down to the holidays and a new year! Where do you stand on your health goals? Your life goals?
Start this new month with a specific health related goal you can set everyday, something that you can accomplish that day. Like no sugar, walk 15 mins, get your protein, sleep an extra hour, etc.
Then add a life goal, something to motivate you and inspire you and others. Like sending a text to a loved one, compliment a stranger, do a good deed, make a phone call to an old friend, etc. Get specific and hold yourself accountable!

The smallest movement in activity will release those chemicals in your brain that will help you take the second step! This is the day….. let’s goooooooo!
