⚾️Come Join The Ranks⚾️
We are recruiting a new cadet umpire class for the spring 27’ high school baseball season and looking for some fresh talent to join the international brother and sisterhood of sports officiating!!
Western Connecticut Umpire Organization is a very tight knit baseball ⚾️ officials organization with a core focus in servicing high school baseball in the Western Fairfield County area.
We cover the SWC, FCIAC and prep schools in Western Fairfield County.
We also service men’s adult baseball leagues, travel baseball leagues and showcase tournaments, and a variety of summer and Fall baseball programs throughout the area and beyond.
Previous umpiring experience is not required. WCUA provides classroom, virtual and on field training, mentorship and support to help you develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed on the field.
If you are interested in learning more or happen to know someone you feel would benefit from meeting us, please send us a message or comment below for information on our upcoming onboarding and training opportunities!!

This is why staying point of plate and adjusting with the play with quiet steps is critical instead of moving to the default 3rd base extended for plays at the plate. He’s one of the best in the world at this craft too, anyone wearing that uniform is, with an exception or two 😳
Look at the 3rd base coach btw..

The SWC Conference tournament wrapped up Thursday night with a very well played, back and forth championship game between New Fairfield and Newtown.
Thank you Newtown for playing so well when it mattered most and competing so hard and a big congratulations to those New Fairfield Rebels on your SWC CHIP DUB!!!!
While the players, coaches and teams earn and deserve the spotlight and attention, it’s also important to recognize the dedication of the 2026 conference tournament umpire crews who show up well prepared and stay laser focused, exuding passion and professionalism to safeguard the fairness and integrity of our great sport.

The road to Hunt Field is here!! When the lights are brighter, the weather is usually warmer, the grass is greener, the crack of the bat, the pop of the mitt and the roar of the crowd are all louder……. Where champions are born!!!
We live for this!

As the season will eventually slow, camp season will pick up. Summer camps combine classroom instruction, film breakdown and live game evaluations to help umpires refine their mechanics, positioning and rules knowledge. Officiating is not a side job-it is a craft and crafts demand devotion. The best umpires remain students of the game forever. Through studying film, attending clinics, talking to mentors and teaching others, umpires are able to sharpen their own understanding. When you stop learning, the game stops teaching. In addition to the CSBABU 2026 C.U.T clinic in late August below are some great camp opportunities coming up summer 2026.

The chief...
Since 1976, Referee Magazine has profiled hundreds of officials across every sport and level. During our 50th Anniversary year, we’ll be sharing some of these stories each week. Harry Wendelstedt spent 33 years in the NL, ran the top umpire school in the world, and once shared a major league field with his son. His only regret? That he had to leave the game.
