Please stop using these things ALL THE TIME, preferably at all, and just invest in teaching them to swim and be safe around water...

Pool too deep for your small kids?
Here is an idea I've had for awhile beautifully executed. Allowing kids to have something to hold on to and let go of by their own accord can build confidence in swimming. This also allows for practice kicking and strokes in a limited size area. Also SUPER easy and cheap to create!
It's just a rope, tied on either side of this particular pool, or weighted outside if that isn't an option. This rope was pretty thin so we added the noodles and I love it! So did the kids! Feel free to ask questions, happy to help you set up your own! :)

Black Dot Supervision:
Take a look at the top half of the image. There are 8 black dots at the intersections in this image. Your brain won’t let you see them all at once. Check it out…
In order to effectively supervise around the water we need to remember how our brain works. While watching kids we can only really see or process one black dot (or kid) at a time. If you are watching multiple kids you have more black dots to switch between. The dots could also represent a conversation or another task. While you are attending to one dot, the other dots are on their own.
An important reminder that we are human and our brain likes to do one task at a time…we have limitations.
I know so many people simply say “just watch your kids”, but I think it is a little more than that. It is work. We need to know how our brain works and acknowledge our limitations in order to be effective. We have to be looking at the right dot at the right time, and really processing what we are looking at
The more you know, right?!
