For the last four years, the Reaching Your Dream Foundation has been raising funds to support young kids get to involved with racquetball. We have also helped aspiring young open players to reach their dream of playing on the Pro Tour.
Fitness Forever! https://youtu.be/7hi9kCBgJew When shopping on Amazon, I use the option to have Amazon donate a percentage of every sale to a charity. https://Smile.Amazon.com When you first go to that site, you are invited to choose your charity. If you search for ‘Racquetball’, there are 62 options that come up. Some are state or city racquetball associations. Some are bigger more widely applicable charities, like USA Racquetball, the US Military Racquetball Federation, or the National Masters Racquetball. Quite a few are YMCA’s or JCC’s. Currently, I support the Reaching Your Dream Foundation. RYDF doesn’t come up in the search for ‘racquetball’, but you can type it in manually.
How would you compare RYDF's Fitness Forever initiative to this Squash Busters program?
Congratulations Bobby! Best of luck to you and Robert Collins in your assistant coaching debut at Junior Worlds under coach Charlie Pratt. Good luck USA Juniors!
This weekend John Ellis hosted a Dare 2 Dream fundraiser for RYDF. It was a great success in many ways. During the event Kim Randolph and I presented Daniel and Tatoe Rojas funds collected by RYDF to support Northern California Juniors 14 and over who made the USA Junior National Team (four recipients are not pictured).. Also pictured is long-time CNRA member and junior instructor Brian Dixon. Over the last dozen years, Brian has arguably done more for Nor Cal juniors than anyone else and continues to volunteer his valuable time.
Great post Timothy Baghurst. Thanks.
A dream can be seen if one is a visionary. A dream can be the purpose one is to fulfill and therefore help other towards their purpose and fulfillment.. A dream is always inclusive of not just (one--you) intrinsic in the value of the dream is the impact in the life of another--the focus seems to be in the beginning primarily singular---yet the fruit of the dream---a true dream--yields a mighty harvest. Carpe Diem---seize the moment---many await the seeds of YOUR DREAM!!!!!!!

RYDF was created to give young women and men athletes the opportunity to develop personally and professionally and help youth and families to become more physically active while having fun.

Any sport played at the highest level depends on a continuous infusion of new players. Athletes develop their world-class ability by competing in local, regional but especially national and international tournaments. Right now, serious racquetball competitions at the highest level are limited to those with the financial means to participate. There are significant financial barriers for many talented young men and women who are qualified to compete, but cannot afford the total travel costs. Some national federations promote the sport but few have enough resources to directly support player development. In order to compete as amateurs or professionals, players need support for entry fees, transportation, housing and meals. Absent these opportunities, players opt out or fail to develop their full potential. Until new ways are found to support the dreams and aspirations of these young men and women, the growth of racquetball will be constrained. We developed Reaching Your Dream for our love of racquetball with the desire to preserve and enrich it's growth. Our newly formed non-profit, Reaching Your Dream Foundation will seek government, private, and corporate partners who share our commitment to expand and strengthen tournament play, and to assure a talent pipeline that will elevate Racquetball to new heights.

Mission: Subsidize and mentor a new generation of racquetball players to compete at the highest level of play.

Eduardo Portillo commonly known to the racquetball world as “Lalo” is a 20 year old professional player from one of the major racquetball capitols of Mexico, San Luis Potesi. Lalo is one of the few pro racquetball players who has created a monthly blog which keeps his fans up to date on his many accomplishments. You can view his awesome newsletters by following this link: http://eepurl.com/dPHNwv.

In addition, Lalo has had an exceptional six months by winning a Tier 4 in Chicago followed up by a win in a big Mexican tournament. In early January Lalo made the finals of an IRT Tier 1 and finished second. In a short time he moved into the top 15 of the IRT and now is number 9. Please help RYDF support Lalo and men and women players reach their dreams of having a career pathway by donating here or at www.give2rydf.org. Thank you.

Last Thursday our athlete Kelani Lawrence was invited as a guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Salem, Virginia, and she told us a little bit of her experience.

“The presentation focused on my experiences as a college athlete and successes in racquetball. I talked about how I’ve been able to manage both and how that experience has helped me juggle work, racquetball, and volunteer coaching field hockey at the local college in Roanoke, VA.

I was able to highlight the sport of racquetball and talk about competing on the professional tour and for Team USA. The presentation generated a lot of interest and I was able to answer a ton of questions on different competitions, qualifications and opportunities for racquetball.”

Thank you Kelani for representing our sport and the RYDF so well!

[01/08/20]   Racquetball and RYDF lost a great and loyal and friend supporter with the sad passing of Wayne Toyne. May he RIP🙏💖

The Reaching Your Dream Foundation’s close friend and an original advisor, Freddy Ramirez, has a long and distinguished history with all variations of racquetball. For several years he helped Doug Gamin with the photography aspects at racquetball’s premier event, the U.S. Open. After that he helped develop the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) significantly improve its social media presence and helping many of lady pros with their “reach” and social media presence. Please enjoy this short video created for RYDF and please consider donating either here or at www.give2rydf.org if you believe in RYDF as much as Freddy does. Thank you!

Congratulations to all our #RYDF athletes that made the top rankings list for the first half of the season! The Reaching Your Dream Foundation is a proud sponsor of the International Racquetball Tour (@racquetballtour)🙏🏻

Racquetball has been the personal and professional passion for Rocky Carson III for well over 25 years. He’s America’s most recognized player and multi-national and international champion in both indoor and outdoor racquetball. Four years ago Rocky joined the Reaching Your Dream Foundation to serve as a role model and mentor to young men and women players regardless of nationality in order to support young athletes from around the world with needed resources to achieve success both on and off the court to develop successful careers in sports and life (RYFDF Mission).

Thank you very much!

IRT 2018-19 Completed Season Re-Cap

Before we get into the new IRT season (and the draws for Atlanta are already up, preview coming tomorrow), I wanted to wrap-up last season with the notification that we have some annual files that we update at the end of each season. I meant to post this more towards the end of the IRT season in June, but its been such a busy summer that I never got to it. So now with the first 2019-20 event days away, here's a quick recap of where we are.

- http://rball.pro/1BF3BA is a direct link to the Year Ending standings for last season.

- http://rball.pro/E79E17 is the Season Summary report per player, a nice query summarizing the Wins/Finals/Semis/etc per player on tour.

- http://rball.pro/6545A5 is the Season Seed Report, a great report showing how players' seeds varied throughout the year.

------------------------------

The Static links are now updated with 2018-19 results (all of these are located at the bottom of the Report Selection Page for each tour):

- List of Year End title winners: http://www.proracquetballstats.com/irt/year_end_titles.html
- Counts of Titles: http://www.proracquetballstats.com/irt/number_of_titles.html
- List of Major Title winners: http://www.proracquetballstats.com/irt/major_titles.html
- Tour History: http://www.proracquetballstats.com/irt/tour_history.html
- Season by Season summary: http://www.proracquetballstats.com/irt/year_end_summaries.html

------------------------
We've already seen a ton of news items too since the end of last season:
- new website www.irttour.com
- Hiring of Aimee Roehler Ruiz to do Social Media
- Naming of Pablo Fajre to direct both streaming and satellite events
- The official return of Andy Kulback to tour management

And the schedule is looking fantastic. Last season there were 9 events. Already the IRT schedule has 11 planned Tier 1 or Grand Slam events with a 12th likely coming soon for sure, and they havn't event started really working on the spring schedule yet. So things are looking really promising for the new season already.

Can't wait for the first Tier 1 this coming weekend!
