"AHHH! HELP! Which Therapy Do I Use?!!"
Don't panic, we got you
Laser VS Red Light/ Near Infrared Light Therapy
- both generally work on the same light wavelengths
- both increases mitochondrial ATP production,
- both improves circulation,
- both reduces inflammation,
- both accelerates tissue repair
"So Nicole, which one to use/buy/rent/etc? Ya know, the thing that makes me want to pull my hair out?"
..well...
Depends on personal preference and how you want to use it. One isn't better or worse than the other.
Laser:
- smaller area, higher intensity, acute conditions
Red/ Near-Infrared:
- wider areas,
.. (if you like brainy things)... continue lol...
Class 3 lasers (often Class 3B in equine use)
use narrow, coherent beams of light, allowing focused, high-intensity delivery to specific injury sites... Stupid terms...
- focused
- higher intensity
- coverage is limited
- best for deep tissue or acute/focused injuries (tendon/ligament tears, deep joint inflammation, post-surgical recovery)
Red / Near-Infrared light therapy
use broad, non-coherent light from multiple diodes, so it covers a wider area at lower per-point intensity... Stupid terms...
- daily use
- maintenance
- all over coverage
- best for chronic conditions, on-going maintenance, wider coverage areas (muscle soreness, topline soreness, general wellness)
Both are valid, non-invasive tools for equine healing. The choice depends on the injury type, treatment goal, and whether you want focused, high-intensity therapy or broad, low-intensity. Using both can complement each other for optimal results too.
*** NOTE, Class 4 Lasers are not included in this. That is a VET ONLY tool, and rightfully so ***
