👻⚾ Ghost Town Champions! ⚾👻
The 2026 9U Red Deerfield Warriors headed to Wisconsin Dells for the Ghost Town Tournament—and took on a whole new level of baseball. With full rules in play (lead-offs, pick-offs, balks, and even stealing home), the challenge was real…
But the Warriors had one message:
“I ain’t afraid of no Ghosts!”
And they backed it up—going a perfect 5-0 on the weekend! 💪
The Championship game was one to remember, as the Warriors battled another undefeated team, the Wolfpack from Ottawa, IL. In a thriller, the Warriors walked it off with a 7-6 victory to bring home the title! 🏆
That makes it 4 tournament Championships this season—an incredible run!
Coach Tom summed it up best:
“This is a complete team from top to bottom. Each player contributes in his own way, and it’s a different player stepping up every game.”
And of course—what happens in the Dells isn’t all baseball… the boys made plenty of memories enjoying everything the Dells has to offer too! 🌊🎢

Huge shoutout to the Deerfield 9 Red Warriors for bringing home the 2026 Wood Bat 9U Championship! 🏆💪
⚾ 3–0 in pool play
⚾ Earned the #3 seed
⚾ Battled through 3 straight games in bracket play
⚾ Took down a tough New Trier squad 5–2 in the Championship Game
💥 UNDEFEATED WEEKEND: 6–0
💥 39 runs scored / only 8 allowed

💥 Threw 10 Different Pitchers for the tournament

On June 9th, 2026, DYBSA awarded the Harry Steindler Award to Paul Chanan and the Community Impact Award to Dan Mayer. Collectively the pair has coached 48 years, instilling strong values and leadership skills in multiple generations of DYBSA players. Coach Mayer has been the head coach of the 14U team for 30 years, and leads Deerfield’s travel baseball development program. Coach Chanan has coached at multiple levels from 9U – 13U since 2008, is the director of development for the 8u-10u levels, and has held numerous board positions including Travel Director, Commissioner, Past Commissioner, Secretary, and Publicity. Both are leaders in our community and exemplify what we stand for as an organization. They are pictured here with two of our 2026 Scholarship recipients, Luke Siciliano and Will Swender. Not pictured are scholarship recipients Arden Bubser, Marlee Cohen, Vera Hanson and Nora Mcclenahan. Congratulations to all on their much-deserved honors! 🏆

As we head into the weekend we want to thank everyone for an incredible day at our annual DYBSA Memorial Day All-Star Challenge!

This was everything youth baseball should be about — kids competing, families cheering, teammates laughing, burgers on the grill, announcers on the mic, and our community coming together to celebrate the game we all love.

We welcomed more than 400 players, family members, and supporters for one of the biggest and most exciting events of our season. Players brought nonstop energy to six skill stations, including pitching velocity and accuracy, home run hitting, rocket arm throwing, web gem catching, and lightning-fast base running.

A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors, volunteers, coaches, board members, and community partners who helped make the day so special:

We closed out the day with three outstanding All-Star Games that showcased everything great about youth baseball — teamwork, sportsmanship, competition, and fun.

Most importantly, it was a reminder of what makes DYBSA so special: kids outside playing baseball with their friends, families gathered together at the fields, and a community that continues to show up and support one another year after year.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, cheered from the stands, and helped make the day such a success.

⚾️ 2027 Deerfield Travel Baseball Tryouts Are Coming ⚾️

Deerfield Travel Baseball is more than just baseball. It’s an opportunity for players to compete with their classmates and friends, represent the Deerfield community, and develop within a program connected to Deerfield High School Baseball.

Our program features:

🔥 Structured winter workouts and offseason training
🔥 Competitive league and tournament play
🔥 A true community baseball experience centered around growth, development, and pride

9U-11U: June 29 & June 30
12U-14U: July 6 & July 7
8U tryouts for the 2027 season will take place in December 2026.
