What started as some extra touches in the summer turned into a group of athletes and families that genuinely bought into what we are trying to build with ValorX.

Kids showing up, working their butts off, competing, getting uncomfortable, laughing, growing, and becoming better versions of themselves every single week.

Thank you for trusting me with your kids, supporting what we’re building, getting them to training in the scorching heat and tornado watches, listening to me yell 😂 and believing that this can be about so much more than just becoming a better soccer player and athlete.

The goal has always been bigger than soccer. Build stronger athletes by building stronger people. Help every kid figure out what makes them different and learn how to use that to their advantage.

I’m incredibly proud of every one of these kids and grateful for every family that spent their summer doing ValorX.

And we’re just getting started. 🙏

Heading into our last week of the ValorX summer program and I could not be more grateful for the dedication of these young athletes. 🔥

As they head into their club and school seasons, I told them to ignore the people who tell them to “just be yourself.”

I don’t want them to just be themselves.

I want them to be BETTER than themselves every single day.

Your first competition is YOU.

You have to win the battle against the version of yourself that showed up yesterday.

Every rep. Every touch. Every mistake. Every opportunity.

Be better than you were 10 seconds ago.

And understand this: being better does NOT mean being perfect.

You’re going to lose the ball. Miss shots. Misplace passes. Get beaten. Make bad decisions.

What matters is what happens NEXT.

Lose the ball? Work like hell to win it back.

Miss the shot? Sprint back in line and load up for the next one.

Misplace the pass? Move immediately, provide support, and give your teammate another option.

Get beaten? RECOVER.

No head down. No throwing your hands up. No self-deprecating comments. No wasting five seconds feeling sorry for yourself.

Those five seconds belong to the game and need to be focused on the next thing only.

The best athletes aren’t mistake-free.

They’re allergic to feeling bad about mistakes, because they’re so damn focused and making up for it.

They SCAN before the ball arrives. They TALK. They demand responsibility. They move after the pass. They compete when they’re tired. They make the people around them better. And when something goes wrong, they don’t disappear. They show up even more.

That’s the mentality I want these athletes taking with them long after this summer ends.

And every time you step onto the field, chase a version of yourself you haven’t met yet.

Find your X-Factor. ⚡️

Dribbling isn’t just about the move. It’s about what the move creates. ⚡️⚽️

A few friendly reminders for players working on becoming more dangerous and confident on the ball:

⬇️ Get low. Keep your knees bent and chest over the ball so you can stay balanced and explode in either direction.

💪 Use your arms. Balance yourself, protect your space, and make yourself harder to knock off the ball.

👀 See the space BEFORE you attack it. Know where you’re trying to go and get there before the defender can close it down.

⚡️↔️ Change your pace AND direction. Same speed becomes predictable. Same direction becomes easy to defend.

🎯 And most importantly… your job isn’t finished when the dribble is finished.

Beat the defender → make the pass.
Create the angle → hit the shot.
Get to the endline → deliver the cross.

Whatever comes next deserves the same energy, focus, and intent as the dribble itself.

Don’t dribble just to dribble.

DRIBBLE WITH PURPOSE. 🔥

Toe DOWN. Ankle LOCKED. Strike through the CENTER of the ball. ⬇️🔒

Little technical adjustments can completely change the outcome of your finish. EXAGGERATE the arms, keep your chest/shoulders over the ball, keep toe down the entire way through the follow through. Take a look at the keepers positioning and aim for the corners of the goal.

If your toe comes up, your ankle is loose, you hit underneath the ball, or some combination of the three—you’re not going to generate the power and accuracy you need for a quality finish.

We’re looking for a quality “C” body-shape on the strike!

Think about creating a negative wedge with your foot—almost like striking down through a golf ball. 🏌️‍♂️

Once the technique started clicking, we had cleaner contact, stronger follow-through, and a much better chance of finding the back of the net. 🎯

Still wasn’t easy because we had a TOP keeper in goal. 🔝 (Xavi )

Squad getting better every session though! 👏🔥

p.s. The side commentary from TJ is hilarious in this one 🤣

Still making progress on keeping that directional first touch down and under more control, but improving day by day.

Get your body into the best position and angle for the touch BEFORE the ball gets to you, knees and chest over the ball at all times, plant foot and hips facing where you want that directional touch to go, remember the ball needs to land in the right space for you to play the next pass/cross/dribble/shot—that directional touch into the right space sets everything else in motion. 🏃‍♂️💨

Great session with Grant and X today! 💪

The downpour at the end of training made it extra epic!

Sprints and agility training, directional touches inside and outside with both feet, directional touches with the chest, reaction overhead volleys, half-turns to finish in the bottom corners with both feet, and a fun penalty shootout to end a jam-packed session. 👊💥

The weather was perfect today for our ValorX session. ☀️

Carried that Spain World Cup win energy right onto the field!

Today’s we focused on becoming more dangerous in the game — half turns, sharp finishing, changing pace and direction with and without the ball, and learning how to create that extra half-yard of space by making defenders respect the threat. 💪

We finished with one-time strikes using both feet, on the ground and out of the air.

Every session, the details matter.
Every rep, we get sharper.
Every day, we get better.

Meet Grant. 💪

Grant is the definition of what ValorX is about—a decision to get better everyday day. Whether he’s on the soccer field, golf course, pickleball or tennis court, in karate, or at the piano, he brings the same passion to learning, competing, and improving every single day.

Today was his second session with Coach Rock, and we’re excited to help him continue building confidence, technical ability, decision-making, and the habits that separate good athletes from great ones.

At ValorX, we’re not just developing soccer players—we’re building resilient, disciplined, lifelong learners who chase improvement one session at a time.

Welcome to the Team, Grant. We’re so excited for your ValorX journey! ⚽🔥

Big ValorX moment.

We’re proud to welcome Xavier Grantham as the first participant in the ValorX Coach Leadership Program!

This program is built for athletes who want to grow beyond their own performance — who are ready to learn leadership, communication, responsibility, and what it means to help others develop a love for the game.

Through the CLP program, Xavier will train within The ValorX System while also learning how to support younger athletes in a supervised coach-leadership role.

This is what ValorX is about:
Building stronger athletes.
Building stronger people.

Proud of Xavier for stepping into this opportunity as COACH X!
