DAY 23
40 Day Mindful Eating Challenge
Free, join anytime
We’ve started our conversation around the doshas and how each individual is made up of their own unique combinations of all three doshas and therefore all five elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth).
Your invitation is to notice the potential imbalances you may be experiencing through the doshas and take action to bring more balance by choosing the opposite.
See the images describing Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and take a moment inquire which dosha feels the most out of balance.
What if you’re experiencing being out of balance in all three? Start with whatever feels the most out of balance.
Have questions? Ready to better understand your body/mind dosha type? Let’s chat! I’m here to support.

DAY 22
40 Day Mindful Eating Challenge
Today we explore Kapha, made from the elements of water and earth and governs structure and stability. The qualities are cold, moist (oily), heavy, soft, stable. Kapha gives us our capacity for love and compassion, and on this Mother’s Day, what a perfect aligned day to be discussing the nourishment Kapha provides.
When out of balance with more dominant Kapha dosha you may experience deep sadness, despair, be overly attached, or feeling heavy or stuck.
Foods that will increase this dosha (avoid if you’re out of balance) are dairy, sweets, heavy grains and starches, fried or oily food.
Instead prioritize more light, warm, dry, or spicy foods.
We will continue this week exploring food and the doshas, what strong digestion looks like vs compromised digestion, and how to eat right for your body and mind dosha type.

Today we explore Pitta, made from the elements of fire and a little water and responsible for transformation. The qualities are hot/warm, light, and slightly moist. This is the only dosha that contains heat.
When we talk about the strength of our digestive fires (yes multiple in Ayurveda) we are talking about the entire process of fully digesting, transforming our food, and assimilating the nutrients.
When Pitta is out of balance you may experience anger, irritability, be hypercritical of self and others, lack of motivation, and/or be obsessive about a goal to the point of burnout.
Foods that will increase this dosha (avoid if you’re out of balance) are spicy or heating foods and sour or fermented foods.
Instead prioritize more cooling, slightly sweet, or bitter foods. Like coconut water, fresh sweet fruit or melon (eaten apart from each other and other foods), sautéed leafy greens in high quality olive oil.

DAY 20
40 Day Mindful Eating Challenge
Today we explore Vata, the dosha that is made up of ether and air and responsible for movement. The qualities are cold, dry, light, and mobile.
Out of balance you may experience anxiety, overwhelm, fluctuating anxiety /depression, fear, or disconnect.
Foods that will increase this dosha (avoid if you’re out of balance) are dry, light, cold, and mobile. Think raw veggies, cold salad, popcorn, chips, frozen smoothies, etc.
Instead choose more warm cooked meals and foods that are more grounding.

DAY 19…. tomorrow is half way through our 40 Day Mindful Eating Challenge.
There is going to be so much about food soon. For now, your invitation today is to practice self-inquiry as you look at the images and learn about the doshas.
You may identify more with one or two however you contain all three doshas in your own unique combination.
Explore where you are feeling out of balance? What are the symptoms? How does it show up in your body/mind?
Celebrate learning how to better listen to your body and mind, making more supportive and informed decisions that support your well-being.
The next few days we will discuss each dosha and what foods support bringing more balance.

DAY 18
40 Day Mindful Eating Challenge

Your invitation today, like yesterday, is to review the mindful eating practices that have been introduced so far. Pick ONE practice and take time to connect with it and try it on throughout the day.
Mindfulness is a practice, something that we get more attuned and aware of as we make the effort to do things more intentionally. Like working out and strengthening a specific muscle, it takes repetition and consistency…. Mindfulness is the same. We need to practice in order to strengthen.
Ready for more of a food/meal overhaul? Let’s chat, I have a more intentional community based cleanse coming up. Designed to meet you where you’re at and help hold yourself accountable to making lasting change.

DAY 16
Adding on from yesterday to the conversation around foods that are incompatible for digestion according to Ayurveda.
The western diet is filled with foods that don’t combine or digest well. I’m going to cause some discomfort, especially if you eat these combinations more often.
The common ice cold smoothie is today’s example of a western diet meal/snack that is thought of as “healthy” but according to Ayurveda the way the smoothies are typically prepared creates digestive upset and comprise digestive strength. Smoothies often combine different fruits, sometimes dairy like milk or yogurt, protein powders, and served ice cold.
Your invitation today is to continue to notice your digestion. If you have a smoothie, are you adding things that may not digest well together? How do you feel?
We add to the list of foods to include yogurt, melon, and bananas.
Ready for a more personalized food reset? Let’s connect, I am here to support.
Heavy Food Combos / Combos to Avoid that cause general indigestion:
Milk or heavy cream - avoid mixing with salt, sesame, fresh fruit, or foods with sour taste (cheese, sour fruits like berries, tomatoes)
Cheese when mixed with raw fruit
Raw Fruit with dairy, cooked food, grains, legumes, salad, leafy greens
Yogurt with leafy greens, raw fruit, or milk
Melon eat alone
Banana eat alone

DAY 15
In Ayurveda there are many foods that are incompatible for digestion.
Today we shift our focus from eating fruit alone to WHAT Heavy Food Combos can lead to indigestion in general. The western diet is filled with foods that don’t combine or digest well. I’m going to cause some discomfort, especially if you eat these combinations more often.
The list below is a start, there are more and it can feel overwhelming, so we will talk more about this the next couple days.
The first step is to notice if you are having any digestive imbalances after eating - gas/bloating, burning indigestion, tired/sluggish? These are all messages that your body is trying to tell you that you are not digesting what you just consumed. I can help you feel better in your body and mind, and learn what foods support your unique constitution.

DAY 14
Your invitation today is to eat fruit separately from other foods including other fruits. For example, berries are more of a sour taste where melon is sweet. This is an example of an incompatible food combination in Ayurveda. Fruit should be consumed alone, not with your meal, or with other fruits. Give your body time to digest your fruit before eating again.
Notice. Observe. What is happening in your digestion? Ready for more of a reset? Let’s connect! I have an upcoming 3 day nourishing kitchari cleanse starting this month.
