Already, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is getting reports of abusers using the coronavirus as an opportunity to harm domestic partners. Some survivors are not going to shelters or the hospital when needed out of fear of getting the virus. Others are leaving shelters altogether for the same reason.
To help, some orgs are offering remote services like counseling.
And recommend survivors create a safety plan, practice self-care, and reach out for help.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline by calling 1-800-799-7233. If you're unable to speak safely, you can log onto thehotline.org or text LOVEIS to 22522.

So excited to serve a community that had an impact on my youth. Walking the halls of the elementary school my older sister attending is so significant to me.
These young girls have the ability to make their dreams come true. While I hope to inspire many of them to continue on a martial arts journey, also letting them know if they stay the course they can go one to have careers in the White House, like my sister, is possible to.
This month encourage a young girl to reach for the stars!

Thank you to all the amazing families that came despite the snow to our Anti-Bullying & Human Trafficking Self- Defense Workshop.
I appreciate Brittany Austin with Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking that educated us on the social influences that contribute to this heart-aching issue. As a concerned parent highlighted, yes there is a gap in the preventative and support services to aid those groups most susceptible to human trafficking. We are committed to standing in the gap and bringing awareness to this issue in our community.
I would like to thank our Bullying 101 panelist Steven Hunter and Martial Hearts we are looking forward to future collaborations. Thank you to Sean DeMarco Garcia, our city needs more first responders with your heart and spirit, not only is our city safer because of your work, but the relationship between public servants and the communities they serve is also better because of you. And of course thank you to Theo Wilson and the rest of Shop Talk Live and your commitment to initiate mindful, relevant and life changing discourse.
