I TILED my best.
I got asked today what inspired me lately. I’ve been obsessed with tiles design for so many years but I’ve never really done anything about it, until I went to Portugal 2 years ago, and made my husband take a tile painting workshop with me.
I studied the patterns and color combos in advance and I had so much fun learning about the history and the extension of Portuguese influence in the south of Thailand and Malaysia.
This might be a sign to revisit this old project of mine and keep exploring the patterns in other cultures.
Maybe I need to book a trip to Seville, Granada and Alhambra? If you’ve been there, are they toddler-friendly cities?

May has always been an interesting month throughout my entire life.
• The month I got let go from my dream job 6 years ago
• The month I got featured with a big brand 4 years ago
• The month I gave birth to my daughter last year
I have been preparing for my daughter’s first birthday and a house warming party and it didn’t hit me that it’s also it’s Mother’s Day here in the US. (I grew up in Thailand so our Mother’s Day is celebrated in August)
I’ve been avoiding making Lily of Valley for a long time because of how dainty and delicate they are. I wasn’t too excited about it. After I finished 3 birth flower commissions this month, I thought I should make one for my daughter’s room.
And here it is, my first Lily of the valley the flower that brings good luck and I hope it brings all the luck we need for the years to come.

TBT: Paper Phlox & Watermelon on a wooden plaque.
A wedding anniversary gift to a couple where the husband’s family owns a watermelon farm and Phlox represents the day they were engaged.
Loved hearing the story and had a chance to create this one of a kind piece that someone can treasure forever.

One of my favorite parts of paper flower making is the planning. (If this gives away that I’m a Virgo- you’ve guessed correctly)
Figuring out the pattern, color matching, what weight of paper I need and the coloring techniques is very satisfying to me. Once I nailed this part I would make a few prototypes to test out my pattern and coloring.
The tricky part for Foxgloves is each tiny flower has slightly different gradients so I can see that I’ll have to use 2-3 different paper color and make sure they all work together.
😮💨 the next part is making the buds and the flowers which I’ll slowly have those made while my baby is sleeping

Paper Foxgloves
My husband loves Foxgloves but they are poisonous so he asked if I can make a paper version.
Part of me want to say no coz I know how much work it’ll be, another part of me also wanna say yes and take on the challenge.
Well, now that you are seeing this post, you know I said yes.
Hours of research, print out reference photos while catching up on Artemis 2 mission. I am now at the point where I got 1/3 of the way done. The hardest part is behind me.
What color of Foxglove is your favorite?
Mine is the Apricot ones

Temperature drops to a full fall feel today and I’m not mad about it. This week I’m restocking Sunflowers 🌻 and they are ready to ship out as early as tomorrow.
The center is always a pain to make and I’ve finished bunch of them while watching Is it Cake? on
Hope you’re enjoying this sunny fall day ☀️

Blue Columbine: Colorado State Flower
2nd attempt for this Blue Columbine, I’ve made them in the past and a client commissioned me to make one to decorate their new home as they just moved to Denver.
The petals are the most challenging part and took a few times to perfecting the shape and the tail. I’ll be mounting the whole stem to a wooden plaque and it’ll be ready to go!
For those who have seen them in person, do you think I nailed it?

Rose of Sharon- Just for fun.
A potential client asked for a sample of Rose of Sharon, which is South Korea’s national flower, in a smaller size and with Lavender paper. After making a sample I thought I’d make a life size ones anyway just for fun! I then took a walk in the neighborhood and saw them everywhere- (husband hand for scale at slide 4).
Made with 180gram Italian crepe from , from for shading.
All by hand at my tiny studio in Astoria, NYC 💜
