There are two very different kinds of confidence we can build in our children.
One comes from competition and comparison — “I’m better than them.” This is power-over confidence. It can look strong on the outside, but it is fragile and often creates anxiety, resentment, and a constant need to win.
The other comes from recognizing who the child actually is. When we notice and name their real qualities — “You’re hardworking,” “I love your sense of humor,” “You care about people” — we help them develop authentic, inner confidence. This is the power that lasts.
In this video I explain the difference and show you how small shifts in the way we speak to our kids can grow the deeper, healthier kind of confidence — the kind that comes from within.
Try it this week and watch what happens.
