If you have one or both shoulders sloping down … I want to see what muscle is carrying the weight of your arms🤔 Often the levator scapulae are doing the work of the upper traps😬
The problem is that the levator scapulae is a DWD rotator of the shoulder blade. This decreases the space inside the shoulder joint which increase the risk of shoulder impingement 😬🤔😬
Male have a KNOWN higher risk of chronic than female gymnasts. I think it is due to the fact that a number of male gymnastics apparatus train DWD Rotation of the shoulder blades ( pommel horse, P bars and rings). Female gymnasts do NOT have any apparatus which requires a lot of downward rotation… female gymnast have fewer chronic shoulder issues ( PMID 34631906)

, the upper trap is an upward rotator. no matter how strong you are - I find men with bigger arms often exhibit this downward slope of shoulders)
From the way people have reacted to me saying that male gymnasts have this issue and that perhaps downward rotation of the shoulder blades is the issue - it obvious that many physicaltherapists & personal trainers do NOT understand this .
