We had a great time relaxing in the mountains with blue skies and nice temperatures.

Round Mountain: https://traildamage.com/reports/round-mountain-260328/
We hadn't seen Round Mountain in almost 10 years, so it was good to get back to it. After the expensive damage on the last trail run, it was good to just spend a relatively cheap day on the trails.

Just when it feels like no one is getting any serious trail damage, someone has to go and break and axle. Tim pulled that one off on Balanced Rock Road in the snow, hitting a rock on a hill. One broken axle, axle shaft, and flat tire later and he's ready to get back at it.

Balanced Rock Road (nothin' but trouble): https://traildamage.com/reports/balanced-rock-road-260307/
Well, it wasn't all trouble, it was a blast up there! We think we have our Trail Damage of the Year winner already and it's not even summer yet. Good times!

Per TrailDamage.com tradition, we went to the Cripple Creek Ice Festival before hitting the trails. We didn't see much snow this time, so the trail runs were uneventful. But the blue skies were really nice.

We even had dinner together after the trails, something we always love to do. After all, we're family.

What would winter be without Mount Herman? We visited our old favorite and added Schubarth Road for a great, snow-packed day.

The Rockies are the best in snow!

We went out looking for snow but found rocks instead -- that's a great compromise!
Eagle Rock: https://traildamage.com/reports/eagle-rock-251115/
Mount Baldy: https://traildamage.com/reports/mount-baldy-251115/
Lots of people were out but we were usually by ourselves on the trail. The boulders on Eagle Rock were as challenging and fun as always, and the shelf-road views on Mount Baldy didn't disappoint. It was a great time in the mountains.

It's a bit of a drive from Denver, but worth it to see Williams Pass during the one month it's open every year. And for us, we hadn't seen it in 17 years! We had a great time on Hancock Pass before negotiating the tight turn at the trailhead in a bunch of weekend traffic.

The fall colors were amazing -- we timed it right. We had a blast!

We used to do Slaughterhouse Gulch every year, and it was nice to get back to it. It was still a great trail, and this time we had some new to add to the old. Matt's son, Corrigan, had practically grown up with us on the trail, and now he was driving as a new member!

Alan also brought a different rig to the run, a 1975 CJ-5. That kept things interesting and fun. Great times on the trail.

There are so many trails, and we have our favorites. But 11 years is way too long to go between trail runs! Our newest member Josh joined us first on Mosquito Pass, a trail they just opened up by digging through a snowed-in trail.

Birdseye Gulch: https://traildamage.com/reports/birdseye-gulch-250719/
Birdseye Gulch was awesome to see again, and it seems like we do it once every decade. We really need to hit that awesome trail more often.

Is there anything better and bigger than a day running the Trifecta near Moab?
Poison Spider Mesa: https://traildamage.com/reports/poison-spider-mesa-250607/
Golden Spike: https://traildamage.com/reports/golden-spike-250607/
Gold Bar Rim: https://traildamage.com/reports/gold-bar-rim-250607/
It was hot and sunny and just about perfect. We thought we would make it through unscathed, but Julie caught her rear bumper on the way out of the Golden Crack. So close!
As long as we make it back to Moab before all of the restaurants close, we're happy.

We added a new trail, Lost World, a Jeep Badge of Honor trail for a short time. It was a blast, and the scenery was out of this world.
Lost World: https://traildamage.com/reports/lost-world-250606/
Wipe-Out Hill: https://traildamage.com/reports/wipe-out-hill-250606/
We always have a soft spot for the obstacle on Wipe-Out Hill. It gets in your head! We've done it before and no one died, but it still looks so intense when you see it again. No one died this time, either. 😉

Alone on a desolate, dirt road. What could go wrong? Turns out A LOT!
Yellow Cat Flat: https://traildamage.com/reports/yellow-cat-flat-250605/
Even though Julie spent some time alone on the trail and stuck in the mud, we always like a good rescue. This is the best way to start a trip to Moab, right?
