2024 YP Events Coming!

With 2024 in full effect, the Colorado Chapter Young Professionals (YP) Group is looking forward to a strong year with several events! We will work with the High Line Canal Conservancy again to set up a volunteer event along their canal. This was a big hit last year and booked up very fast, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as it is advertised. We are also hopeful to host an asphalt mix plant tour soon and a Rockies game outing as well. The YP Instagram is currently under construction but will be up and running soon. Whether you are early in your career, new to the area, or are a former YP that wants to pass along some wisdom, the Colorado YP Group wants to hear from you!

Tentative 2023 events include:
• Kick-off mixer (Top Golf possibly) – Apr/May
• High Line Canal Volunteer Events
o Canal Cleanup
o Tree planting
• Martin Marietta Asphalt mix plant tour
• BBQ Event - Summer
• Rockies Game - Sept
• Annual APWA Conference Speaker Introductions

Contact, Ryan Garringer, at [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to get involved. Please share with others in your office or organization that may be interested in becoming part of this professional organization. There are opportunities to join the YP Committee. Public Works is best shared with others, so come be a part of the group!

The 2024 APWA Spring Streets Conference is going to be the best one yet, with a great line up, beautiful weather and great opportunities to connect with other YP's from around the state. Beside sitting in some great sessions, and the ever exciting corn-hole tournament, I am bringing my mountain bike and am hoping to do some loops before or after sessions. Who else is coming to this, and what are you most excited about? Anybody else planning on bringing their bike, clubs or hiking shoes?

Hello APWA Colorado Friends!

The APWA Colorado Young Professionals (YP) Group is excited to announce they will be sponsoring a VIRTUAL BLOOD & FOOD DRIVE.

Don’t want to give blood…..you can still help out and have a chance to win prizes! Blood donations are in huge demand but due to the economic hardships of COVID-19 along with the growing homelessness issue Colorado is facing, food banks also desperately need our help, too.

This Virtual Blood & Food Drive will be from October 1st until November 30th. We are asking for people to either donate blood for 5 chances to win and/or to donate 5 items of food (or $5 equivalent donation) for 1 chance to win up to 25 items. That’s a total of 10 chances to win per member. There will be a weekly gift card drawing so the sooner you start donating the longer you will be entered to win each drawing - so donate early and donate often!

Special Bonus for YP members – Any YP member that participates in the drive will be entered to win 2x the normal number of chances to win. Not a member yet? No worries, it’s free – just email [email protected] and we will get you signed up.

To enter and report your donations see details on the APWA website: http://colorado.apwa.net/EventDetails/24598

Thanks to our generous sponsors Alfred Benesch & Company and the APWA Colorado Chapter, we will be holding weekly drawings for gift cards to those that participate. Gift cards will be from some of the APWA YP Committee members’ favorite local restaurants and shops – so you will be helping them out as well during these times! Winners will be announced each week, so get your donations in and reported early to maximize your chances to win. Be sure to take advantage of the YP 2x entries while you can.
