The longer I do this sports parenting thing… the more something becomes clear…

There’s no greater thing you can do for your athlete than to spend time with them outside of their sport.

Greater than the value of that last run to the store for new equipment…

Greater than the value of those tournament fees…

Greater than the value of that extra training…

… is the value of your time.

Even if it’s just a run for late-night ice cream.

Even if it’s just inviting them to sit at the kitchen island with you while you have your coffee.

Even if it’s just a drive with no destination… and no agenda.

Because in a season of life when sports can start to feel like everything…

… they still need to know they are loved for more than what they do out there.

… they still need moments where they can just be your kid… not your athlete.

… they still need you … not as a fan… but as their safe place.

Don’t ever underestimate the value of that time.
