Two states. Two cities. One team. One goal.

Today our Riders are showing up and showing out at TWO meets!

First, our Roy Griak Invitational 12-man roster will run the first race of the day at 9 AM in Minneapolis, MN.

At 11:45 the rest of the Roughrider crew will be competing at the Heartland Classic in Pella.

Best of luck to all of our runners!

Our running Riders continue to put in the miles, the minutes and the heart! Last Thursday they battled a challenging Marshalltown course and came away with 4 PR’s, 12 Course Best races and several brand new members of the 21 Club!

Monday for the first time ever our team joined the Mike Carr Invitational in Ballard. The storms didn’t stop us, and neither did the unknown course and SEVEN members of our team came away with a new Personal Record!

We will be back on the courses tomorrow so try to keep up! 🏃🏃‍♂️🏃🏃‍♂️🏃🏃‍♂️

Our running Riders hit the road again today - this time to Marshalltown! Our 9/10 runners have a race time of 4:55, with JV at 5:55 and the Varsity race at 6:50.

Our Riders battled extreme heat and schedule changes this week and won - every single racer who started in Ames on Thursday made it to the finish line! A special congratulations to Cooper Briggs on his course best finish, and to all the members of our 21 club.

It’s meet day!

The extreme heat has led to some changes in Ames today. There will be ONE race at 7 PM, consisting of 10 varsity runners and no more than 30 additional runner per team.

But overcoming adversity and rising to the challenge is what Roughriders do best! Our team has been preparing all week and we’re ready - so bring the heat!

A great season opener for our running Riders on Saturday! A lot accomplished, even more still to prove. We’ll see you back out on the course Thursday in Ames.

T minus 8 hours. Roughriders ready!

11/11/2025

While the season may be officially over, that didn’t stop a few of our runners from braving the most extreme weather conditions to participate in the NXR Heartland Meet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Sunday.

The grit and determination was on full display, and we are thankful to Coach Smith for ensuring our races had this opportunity. Thank you also to our parents for bundling up and showing up!

Most importantly, bravo to these runners for exemplifying the spirit of a Roughrider!

It's here! Our state qualifier is today at 4:40 in Council Bluffs - your ROUGHRIDERS are ready to leave everything on the course!

Giving back to our community through service has always been a pillar of this team, and what better place to do that than the DES MOINES MARATHON!

Today more than two dozen of our athletes and parents volunteered at a water station, supporting approximately 2,000 athletes who ran the marathon. What an awesome way to show our community the true character of a Roughrider! Special thanks to Sacha W. for coordinating this opportunity for our athletes!
