Bambi got it figured out

Afternoon storm update.
The sound is almost dry in places, but the ocean is doing its best to come across the island and fill it back up. It’s knocking down dunes from Rodanthe to Hatteras. There is a 27.6 ft sea rolling across the weather buoy and it’s only blowing 40, gusting to 52.
I don’t expect to be able to drive to the boat for awhile after this passes. Even if there is a road left, it’s under a lot of saltwater right now.
Avon is flooded up by Food Lion, the dunes are down along Oceanside drive. There is water rolling across the highway from Frisco to Hatteras. It’s breaching in places along there as well.
I wish I had some good pictures for y’all, but I’m not planning on getting near any flooded areas with my truck. My view is a limited right now looking out the front door. Boarded up mainly to protect all the plants that were brought in from outside, especially the vegetables and pineapples.
This weather isn’t even fazing the deer in the front yard. Got a fawn eating grass and laying down, probably enjoying the cooler temperatures today.
When I get more information I’ll pass it along.
